When I say indie songs, 'Alex g' and 'Adrianne Lenker', or maybe 'Big Thief' comes to mind as artists of some well known indie songs. Personally, those are ones I listen to when in need of something that amplifies my sorrow and deep thinking.
I think it's a widely interesting genre. as all music, it has its profound meaning(s) and is held dear to many of its listeners. Indie music is well known for its slow paced tunes, giving a melodic lullaby quality and it's painfully relatable lyrics that are sang with a soft, melancholic passion.
I believe indie music might not only be a genre in a sea of many others, but also a poetry of sorts that has lost its way from the pages of any gathering. many of the lyrics in indie songs such as Adrianne Lenker have a very poetic quality. I am also sure that many people still write poetry on its own and have published many poetry books. but I have a feeling poetry through music holds more emotion and can portray the feelings rather deeply.
the question(s) that has risen in me through this observation is: do you think this is a new way to write and spread poetry? perhaps, is it a better way?
follow-up question: do you get more emotions out of reading poetry or hearing it through song?
I am aware there are probably many genres like indie, and even its sub genres that hold a more poetic quality, and that perhaps every song, in itself, is a poem of sorts.
but I figured indie was a good example to rant about with this and I would love to hear other peoples take on this topic.

honestly dude, my brain is hella fuzzy to have properly read your blog, but the way i see it is that poetry and music are two different ways of expressing emotion, feel and experience(s) (and such)
sure, the line drawn might be kind of vague and they do share a lot of similarities, but at the end of the day theyre both different and have their own redeeming qualities! for one, poetry can be interpreted in so many different ways than the author has intended that gives the creation its own charm. music does too, but i personally think that the lesser you have something to work with, sometimes the more valuable it gives? if it makes any sense.
and with music, it gives the creator more tools at disposal to give it a certain feel to the creation. the tempo, sounds, melodies, instruments used can give off certain vibes that poetry alone couldnt convey, so it draws you to a more clear vision of the creation, but still leaves you room for you to process and have you draw your own interpretations.
i think we couldnt live without either one of them, and so i hope this sorta helps you get some sort of enlightenment to this topic XD
