★ HORROR MOVIE MARATHON (CONTINUED): Watched a lot more since last time, although I couldn't get to 31 movies for 31 days. I got like maybe 23. Which is pretty good, since I've just been really busy. Heres my continued ratings of the ones I've watched! I tried very hard to avoid spoilers so you could watch any of these yourself!:
10) Dawn of the Dead (2004 remake)- 6/10 pretty baseline as its a really standard zombie movie. I feel like if I wanted to rate this more accurately I'd have to watch the original, but I didn't have time to get around to it.
11) American Psycho- 10/10 dude its freaking American Psycho I dont think there is a single thing I could say about this movie that hasn't already been said its amazing and its even more amazing how many fucking young incels watch this and misinterpret it! Also yes shameless I was THIRSTING over Christian Bale in this movie what am I to do
12) The Thing- 9/10 dude for some reason every single person I talked to before watching this was like "eh its mid and has bad effects wah wah" BRO THIS MOVIE WAS SPECTACULAR AND THE EFFECTS (although yes very outdated) WERE SO COOL AND FUN AND CREATIVE I WAS GOBSMACKED!!! Sometimes effects don't have to be hyper realistic CGI they just have to be weird puppets and whatnot!! Fuck anyone who drags this movie its so good and never listen to anyone ever!
13) Nope- 9/10 I went into Nope with absolute no clue about the plot of anything, and I fear that is the best way to get into the Peele movies. Not much else to say without spoiling it because I could talk about this one for DAYS...
14) A Nightmare On Elm Street- 4/10 okay so after having a run of like 3 very solid movies this one massively let me down. I've never been a fan of the "classics" (like Halloween, Childs Play, Friday the 13th) and this had the same vibe of the others, I just really struggled to be into it. Very 80s script, felt pretty underdeveloped, yes there was a Johnny Depp in a crop top and yes that helped the rating but a lot of it just felt so dumb... At least I liked some of the effects but otherwise.........
15) Get Out- 9/10 Without a doubt this is Peeles best movie of the 3, it was absurd and well written and thoughtful and I again cant say to much without spoilers. He's got me 2 for 3 right now!
16) 28 Weeks Later- 6.5/10 Okay I feel crazy because I watched this movie and was thoroughly entertained and impressed, especially for it being sequel, just to go to the Letterboxd rating and see that FOR SOME REASON EVERYONE BASHES ON THIS MOVIE. Like am I crazy?? Yes some of the editing was psycho, the kids were a little stupid but otherwise??? It was pretty good! Do I have bad movie opinions??!!?!
17) Rosemary's Baby- 10/10... don't even get me started. I was jaw dropped. The world shifted. This is the greatest gaslighting film ever made. I wanted to bomb every person who wasn't Rosemary. I could write 46 essays on this movie.
18) The Evil Dead- 3.5/10 What probably made this experience bad for me was that I went into it taking it fully seriously. To be fair, its trying really really hard to be serious. But unfortunately with such a little budget (and terrible special effects), it does NOT deliver... Evil Dead 2 however...
19) Evil Dead 2- 8.5(9??)/10 NOW they locked in. They finally realized that if they just embraced the ridiculous nature of the first movie and the insane effects and took it to 100 they would make peak. Also PLEASE JUST 5 MINUTES WITH ASH IS ALL I NEED LORD HAVE MERCYYYYYYYYY
20) Us- 9/10 My friend who recommended me the Peele movies described it best: 'Get Out' is probably his best movie but 'Us' was his personal favorite. I completely agree. 'Get Out' is definitely more organized storyline wise, but thats also because 'Us' is such an insane concept with an even more insane execution. The best to describe it is its a little weird but in a very fun way. And that plot twist was chefs kiss, idgaf.
21) Army of Darkness- 7.5/10 Went back to the Evil Dead original trilogy! Army of Darkness, like Evil Dead 2, completely embraces how insane the story is. Like if you watched Evil Dead 2 you would NOT believe where this movie takes place. The setting going from a random haunted spooky cabin 1980s directly to historically inaccurate medieval times? OKKKK. All I have to critique is that it goes from horror parody to action parody and I was a little winded from all the one liners but otherwise? YESSS bitch..
22) Sinners- 9/10 there was not one but 2 MICHAEL B. JORDANS in this movie!! Oh and the whole vampire thing yeah that too...
23) The Shining- 10/10 I've already seen this gem a million times, and I will never care how much people may shame it for being super slow moving/suspense/overrated. Its a masterpiece. Don't even bother with the book because this movie is the best adaptation. Also Wendy's outfits in this whole movie got me GAGGED.
Honorary mentions: Beetlejuice- 9/10 I've also seen it a million times over but I watched like barely 1/3 of it on Halloween so it feels appropriate to include.
★ MY HALLOWEEN COSTUME!!: Since its my senior year it only felt right to actually dress up at school. This year I actually picked a costume- I was Carl Grimes from the Walking Dead!! ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧ I basically had his whole tboy fit in my closet, so all I did was the bloody eye makeup and wear a sheriffs hat. I was actually super surprised I didn't get dress coded for the makeup since it was lowkey pretty gorey? But I got a lot of compliments and people thought it was really cool!! :P
Maybe later if I feel up to it I'll include photos? But that would come with a face reveal (since his eye is like the main piece) so I don't know... 400 LIKES AND ITS DROPPING 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My friend ☆Exeggcute went as Ticci Toby, another friend went as Ruby Gloom. I saw some pretty good costumes; a few Hollow Knight characters, a dude dressed FULLY AS MIKU (and it was like a good ass cosplay too) (okkkk femboy), someone else dressed as Bella Goth from the Sims. But otherwise there wasn't a lot going on... boringggggg
★ SCARY AMUSEMENT PARK NIGHT: My friend group actually locked in and planned this whole scary amusement park night- similar to Universal's Halloween Horror Nights but MUCH better. Its at a local park which is why I'm keeping it on the down low but it was SO FIRE. I went with the following: ♡H, ☆Starry, ☆Furry, ☆Exeggcute, and ☆Goth. Me and ♡H freaked out at first because we uh.... bought the wrong tickets and wasted like $60 and had to last minute get new ones but BESIDES THAT IT WAS VERY FUN!!! (✷‿✷)
We got into like 4 or 5 mazes, my favorite being the clown themed one. The scary actors were so FIRE bro I unironically loved some of the fits. There was this area that was 1920s themed and we got to watch some of the flappers do a performance which was cool. ^^
We only got to get on one ride, like a Tower of Terror sort of ride called Supreme Scream. Otherwise, we were mostly just walking around to the different areas. For being there on the last weekend before Halloween it wasn't TOO crowded, and also as the night went on the lines got long they were really fast moving.
I think I finally got home at like 1:30, asleep by like 2 and had to wake up for work at like... 6am... </3
★ HALLOWEEN NIGHT: So I basically stayed home for Halloween like I always do. Me and my mom carved pumpkins (or A pumpkin, singular, since one was rotted out... oops). My cousin☆Mayo got ditched for her plans last minute so she popped on over for dinner. My mom made this like apple cider cinnamon roasted chicken with potatoes and it was SOO GOOD. (人*´∀`)。*゚+ Then we had some of the French apple rum cake we had made yesterday and it was a good ass night!!
☆Mayo left a few hours later so me and my mom watched 'Sinners' together, obviously if you saw my rating you'd know we had a good time. My mom always turns in pretty early so I stayed up, just drawing and eating candy and watching 'The Shining' since its like my yearly Halloween movie. :))) Very chill but I like it that way.
Even though we didn't do much I got to bed around like 12am, and once again had to get up for work at 6. I do not plan out these things very well!!!
Happy Halloween!!
