I have a LOT of trouble finding people who like the same music I like because I dress very basic... I really like PTV, MCR, P!ATD, etc... but I can never find anyone to talk about it with. Even if I try to talk to people I KNOW like the same music as me, I feel very brushed off. I FEEL LIKE IM NICE BUT MAYBE IT DOESN'T COME OFF AS THAT??? IDK.... I am not in a home where I can dress alternative without being shamed lol... Any solutions are helpful or anyone who likes PTV, MCR, and P!ATD who would wanna be my friend would be greatly appreciated. :,(
ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM???

If someone you share interests with brushes you off because you don't LOOK like someone they'd normally be friends with it's a major red flag and trust me when I say you're dodging a bullet. Granted, some people really are just shy, but when I was younger a lot of alt kids were MEANNNN and being alt was a competition to them. They'd accuse everyone around them as being posers, and I really hope it's different these days.
Some people will surprise you tho. Just like how you have to dress a certain way that people might think doesn't match your music taste, it's the same for a lot of other people. My ex was into emo music and worked at an office so they mainly wore business casual. You really never know, so you just gotta be willing to meet new people until you find someone you really click with.
My little emo friend group when I was a teenager was mostly all in the same boat as you tbh. It's more common than you might think ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thank you so much for your reply! This makes me feel a lot better lol... I would love to say that things are different know but from my experience, I have been called a poser online and in person :,). But this makes me feel so much better!!! I just gotta meet the right people.
