"is it that time of the month?"

I am so tired of the idea that when a woman has an adverse or strong reaction to something, the immediate response is to ask if it's "That time of the month". I don't know how other girls feel about it but it's a personal pet peeve of mine. I feel as though my emotions are undermined and aren't real feelings, that I wouldn't be reacting/feeling this way if I didn't have a period. Men have never said this to me, but my mom does and I can't stand it. I'll be crying or upset about something for more than 5 minutes and she'll ask me that or ask me if I took my medicine this morning. I know she doesn't say these things out of malice or to discount what I'm going through at that moment, but I take it the wrong way regardless.

Pre-programed to do this, this, and this and act this way because of The Period so anything I do or say during my period can be taken without meaning because it was my ovaries making me do that, not my brain.

You can take this entry in full sincerity because thankfully, I'm clear headed and it's not "my time of the month"
