Today, Hugelkultur plot 2 was planted with garlic that was harvested in August. In total, 57 garlic cloves were planted. Hopefully all of them pop up in spring.
The last of the carrots are still needing to be picked, but gonna wait until the last possible moment before a hard freeze to pick those, even though it did snow yesterday (a particularly nasty Hallowe'en, but so rural that no trick-or-treaters came by anyways).
Although most of the cabbage was already harvested, some small heads remain in hugelkultur plot 3. Pretty hardy plant. May feed these smaller heads to the chickens for some enrichment in the future.
Speaking of the chickens, they're nearing 7months of age now, and should be laying eggs imminently. Quite the year for learning about chickens, as this is the first year of owning them. I'm seriously anxious for them though, winter is bitterly cold here, and despite everyone saying they will be fine in their coop, I still worry.
Non-gardening related: Listening to Woods of Fallen demo 2025 - "Wight Power". Good good stuff. Black metal against black metal.
