Religion makes people lazy.
Not nap-on-the-couch lazy —
more like turn-off-your-brain lazy.
A cosmic excuse to stop thinking
because “someone up there” already did it for you.
I get it.
The world’s a mess —
chaotic, loud, impossible to make sense of.
So we build comfort out of commandments
and call it peace.
It’s easier to pray than to question,
to believe than to think.
But somewhere along the way,
“finding meaning” turned into
“following orders.”
Now everyone’s a moral hall monitor,
waving the “sin” card at anyone
who dares to color outside the sacred lines.
Religion used to be about understanding.
Now it’s about judging —
and fear makes a lousy teacher.
When every thought has to pass a purity test,
who has time left for curiosity?
“It’s okay to be poor,
as long as you go to heaven,”
they say, smiling like they’ve won something.
Yeah, maybe—
if heaven’s the prize for never trying.
Meanwhile, everyone’s preaching compassion
but practicing convenience.
Faith without thought is just
obedience in fancy packaging.
Look at Indonesia—
so much potential,
so much hesitation.
Every new idea gets baptized in doubt:
“Is this allowed?”
as if progress needs permission.
Religion should help you find yourself,
not hide from yourself.
It should open your eyes,
not tell you when to blink.
Maybe enlightenment starts
when we stop outsourcing our thoughts to God
and dare to think —
dangerously,
honestly,
on our own.
That’s when heaven
stops being a reward,
and starts being a state of mind.
