Hard to meet good alt friends

Where i live my style is rare and its not often i see people (my age) that don't look overwhelmingly normal. Its frustrating because there's not really a hangout spot that i know off and bars are cringe. I don't want to go home drunk by myself and sad, or with a woman i don't even know. And i know not everyone at bars only wants quick fixes but its for sure not the place to look for *good* friends.

Feels like i don't have much of a choice but to look online because most people like me that live in my area probably feel the same way therefore causing them to not go out lol. Dating apps are a literal curse on humanity so i refuse to use that even for just friends. Probably the worst mistake i made was installing VRCHAT but i don't get on there anymore really.Β

It doesn't help that in my experience people like me are either "fakes" or Instagram models with onlyfans...

And then there's the severe mental unwellness problem...I mean i get it i am too but they often let the problems get in the way of the friendship/relationship.

just a small rant cuz im bored.

Maybe venture out to a neighboring city or state, depending on how boring your state is. Maybe move to a densely populated city, increase your chances of finding more like-minded individuals.

I live in a pretty conservative country but I've found quite a few alt people and especially eccentric rock fans around art circles, so even if you don't wanna pursue education related to fine arts or anything but know anyone who has friends there or are brave enough to just hang around there yourself, I'd recommend trying to seek em out there. The other option would be attending the concerts of any local (bonus points if small because less people=easier to get to know others) bands that you'll find to somewhat match your taste musically, politically, visually, etc and hope for the best. Maybe none of these will work for ya or you already tried and it didn't help, but either way I wish you luck my fella
