Preamble

What else is there to say? The 90s and 2000s Grunge/Alternative music have been pretty prevalent lately and in the last few years, it kind of makes me sad, it's bitter sweet, melancholic you know? On one hand it's great to see the younger generations create music that was relevant to me in my time (even if my music tastes weren't wholly aligned with that genre of music) so that they can also enjoy what I enjoyed.

On the other hand it's an acknowledgement that time has passed, it's a passing of the torch, an acknowledgment that I'm no longer that age, like I feel a stranger to my own passions. Those who are in their early 20s reading this on my friends list probably won't understand that feeling but it's melancholic it's sad, it makes me well-up just a little. Maybe it's also the music, I probably wouldn't be writing something so poetic as this if this song was an upbeat pop piece.

My Actual Thoughts on the song

It's good, the singer Ally has a strong voice, well suited to the style of music. The lead guitar playing the bends in the scales (heard well towards to the end of the song but also in the verses) has this very typical lead sound but it works. The Drums are heavy with double beats and the bass definitely, unassumingly, sinks into the background there too giving more weight to the rhythm. Overall a great song, good to lay down at night and zone out staring at the ceiling.
