Minesweeper is goated and ill vanquish anyone who disses on it

I know Minesweeper is associated with people over the age of 50, but if games like Tetris can still an extremely strong community to this day, I reckon the stereotype is a bit unwarranted. I have at least a few days worth of minesweeper under my belt from just the month ago I properly started playing.

To put it really simply for people who don't know what it is: It's basically a a logic puzzle about opening squares in a gridded field, and using the numbers on them to deduce which mines are around them and which ones are not. I know its very basic but the game has an insane amount of depth and replayability despite that, similar to Tetris. But unlike Tetris, Minesweeper allows you to take your time and play at your own pace, which allows the game to offer options to both starting beginners and fast-pace experts.

But why would you choose Minesweeper over the other games in your potentially already good catalogue? Simple it's not meant to compete with standalone games, it competes with simple games to turn off to like idle games, whilst still offering enough brain stimulation to not make you go to sleep or feel like a complete idiot. Not only that but Minesweeper has skill progression, meaning you actually get better the more you play. The game even has things to learn like patterns, subtractions and probability maxing.

People often make the mistake that Minesweeper is heavily luck based, where as luck can be an element, true 50/50s are few and far between and even then there sites you can play the game on that make them impossible.

Speaking of websites, Minesweeper has so much flexibility, you can play it online and offline on pretty much any device due to the games simplicity making it easy to code. This doesn't even include variants like hexagons and triangles. Honestly I could make a whole other blog post in the future about what variants there are and what is best to use. Personally I use the Windows 7 Minesweeper as I find it consistent, it has solid customizability and i like the Aero style it gives.

So yeah that's my slightly Autistic-coded Minesweeper rant, but being honest it barely even grazes the surface of what the game has to offer beyond the basic stuff, so I might make some more posts on it if I feel like it. So yeah, try it out, though would recommend a quick Youtube tutorial beforehand just so you don't have to trial and error through everything like I did.

I agree...people like to hate on Minesweeper for the memes, but it's one of the best logic games out there :)
