A suprising win for Team Zombie (Splatoon 3 Splatfest)

   To start I forgot this blog existed! I totally forgot about it while I was taking a break from playing Splatoon 3 and in that time played a couple of other games. I wanted to talk about the most recent repeat fest that just concluded last weekend, as of October, 29th, 2025, and how I felt about the results of the fest.

   Team Zombies won this time now the original Splatoween with the  Question being, "Who would be the best friend?" with the options/teams being Zombies, Skeletons, or Ghost Team Ghost won. I was on Team Ghost when this Splatoween theme originally happened back in 2023. I was expecting this fest to go like the last repeat fest, which I believe was the "What's your favorite chocolate?" fest and Team White Chocolate won both in February 2025 and February 2023 and that meant that Team Ghost was sure to win. I think lots of people picked Team Ghost for that reason too, a guaranteed Splatfest win. I picked Team Skeleton this time for Splatoween because that was the team I almost picked in 2023 and I enjoyed playing the fest like I usually do, unfortunately none of my friends were on my team this time, my partner being on Team Ghost and the other member of our team, Misfit, was on Team Zombies. Congratulations to everyone who was on Team Zombies, even though I never fought against you guys outside of Tricolor you guys did great so did the other teams.

   I was upset like I usually am when a fest happens and I only see one of the two other teams and it feels like it happens more when there is a holiday fest going on, Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Springfest, or Summer Nights, than normal Splatfests and it may just be that there are more people playing these Splatfests over the regular non-holiday ones. It felt like an overwhelming amount of people were on Team Ghost or Team Skeleton, I only had a couple of mirror matches in Pro I never encountered them in Open, than there were on Team Zombies because like I mentioned before, I only saw them in Tricolor and neither of the other modes. It bugs me because I don't know if it's a time thing, like I just play Splatfest at the wrong times to see the third team, or if it's just how the matchmaking goes. I wanted to see Team Zombies outside of Tricolor because I definitely saw them in the 10x, 100x, and 333x match win announcements so I knew they weren't just playing Tricolor, they were in the Pro and Open Turf War and I, for some reason, wasn't encountering them. It made this repeat fest feel extra repetitive when I was only fighting the one other team. It got boring and annoying and I really began to dislike the team that I was constantly fighting against and those who picked it because it seemed like so many people either expected the results of this fest to be nearly the same as the original Splatoween back in 2023 and not different because new people are playing that didn't have Splatoon 3 in 2023 and had never experienced this Splatoween theme before and may pick differently than people did back then and may change the results because of that or even those who did experience this theme for the first time may have wanted to be on a different team than they were on last time like I did. I felt overwhelmed by the amount of times I fought Big Man's team as opposed to Shiver's team, it felt unfair to never actually battle against Team Zombies and experience that as a member of Team Skeleton instead of Team Ghost. 

   I am happy that the results of Splatoween this year gave a different team the spotlight instead of the same team winning both times, and while I am sad that the team I was on didn't win I still had fun and that's the most important part of the whole event in my opinion. Hopefully I will remember this blog exists more often and maybe after next season I will make an even bigger blog post that's just me rambling about an entire season where I'd hope to go over the weapons I used that season, how well I did in Ranked, and weapons I got weapon power on, badges I received, my thoughts on turf war that season, and many other things. I'd have so many notes to take and I think I'd have fun with the concept over all.
