graffiti - the only true form of art left

Hi!

Had a little bit of a think when I was getting to school this morning and I just wanted to share why I'm so fond of graffiti. Feel free to share your thoughts on the matter or if you're a graf artist yourself!

I believe graffiti is the truest form of art that we have, especially in current, digital age. Artists are easily researchable and their artwork can be found with just a few clicks most of the time. It's nothing bad that they are getting recognition or rewards for their work, of course, I wish all the best for every artist!

However, there is an ever present lack of trust towards what we see these days. Whether its a post online or a poster you see on the street, with AI easily accessible for everyone and used in way too many areas of our life, it's getting harder and harder to recognise what was made using a human hand and what was generated without a soul or real love for the process.

Graffiti, in this whole mess, stays pure. You have to learn techniques by yourself, you have to practice to become good, and most of all - it's always gonna be made by a person, with purpose and love for what they do. There is also the aspect of full anonymity which I personally love! I love seeing new tags or pieces around my town and deciding whether I like it or not, purely based on the signature and technique used, having no way of a bias towards the artist (unless I know them personally) The search for new pieces also makes me feel more excited about everyday routes I take and makes me more focused on my surroundings, rather than zoning out or staring into my phone the whole time. I also think that pictures or graffiti are beautiful, unique souvenires you can collect when traveling, as they are not mass produced trinkets I won't look at twice, but testimonies of people that live and create in a given space.

There is also the beautiful aspect of community and rules that have not really changed over the years. I don't wanna go too much into it, because it's not exactly important to the point I'm trying to make here, but I love how there's a silent connection between graffiti pieces, especially in the era of hyper individualism.
