going back to Japanese media after being a "weeb" in high school

As a 14 year old, I had about a year or two phase in which I decided I wanted to learn Japanese. I was super into anime at the time, and bought all sorts of language books with the intention of studying abroad. The phase started when Covid started, so I had a lot of time at home to study. I learned a little bit before I lost interest! 

Now I'm 20 and the phase has been over for like 4 years, I barely remember the Japanese i learned, and I'm going to Japan next year for like a whole week. So I'm trying to re-immerse myself in Japanese media just so I can relearn as much as possible before then. It's so awkward though. 

I'm thinking about getting into vkei as I am already a heavy music enjoyer and I have a feeling most of it is not in English. wish me luck
