(finished version!!) legit my old English assignment that was actually so peak
Transylvania, Romania, October 16th, 1737.
Joseph Murdoc, a young man, though only 26, had mastered what would have taken decades. Vampire hunting. He was one of the most skilled trackers in his squad, team 008241, though not the best at the exterminating part, he left that part up to his teammates who were far more skilled in that field. His tracking skills, one of an elders, had not been achieved so easily. His grandfather who was a retired vampire hunter had begun Joseph's training far too early, at the young age of 10, three years ahead of any of his squad members.
His status as the prodigy in his field combined with his invention of silver teeth caps to ‘bite back’ at vampires, made him feared among vampires, none would willingly pick a fight- or a bite.
Joseph, in his small home on the outskirts of town, calmly writing with his feather and ink. Despite his calm writing and gentle humming, had an eerie feeling, though suppressing it because he wanted to have a nice night on his night off. He was one of the hardest working night shift hunters, after all.
What he didn't know was that the vampires knew it was his night off.
Just as he was starting to calm, he heard a faint twisting noise, like metal against metal, seeming to come from the small crawl space door in the corner of the room. He jumps up from his desk, knocking over the cup of ink in the process, but he doesn't care, his body is screaming at him to go catch whatever was in his house.
“What in the world?” he mumbles to himself, grabbing his dagger out of his bag and stalking over to the door cautiously.
As he carefully reaches for the small doorknob to the crawl space, he hears a small skitter noise coming from inside before the sound of a mouse trap clamping is heard.
His heart was pounding.
He was sure he had seen the doorknob turn.
‘Damn rats.’ he mentally curses to himself, knowing he should be less paranoid on his one day off, but deep down he has a gut-wrenching feeling that it wasn't just a mouse in there, but something more, because mice can't turn doorknobs.
As soon as he turns away to head back to his desk, a loud thump comes from the crawl space, like a person bumping their head on wood. Now he definitely knows there's someone in there, whether it was human or creature, there was something in that dusty space. This time he jumps to open the door, and as soon as it's cracked open, a pale man with beautiful black hair launches out the space, knocking over Joseph and pinning him to the ground with their body.
“ Well hello there, my dear, you're the infamous tracker Joseph, if I'm not mistaken?” he breathes out against Joseph's neck, his fangs just barely grazing the hunters neck, letting him know that if he even tried to move an inch that he would be bitten. There's a playful yet dangerous edge to his voice, almost as if he thought this was a game to him.
So many thoughts and emotions are racing through Joseph’s mind, and he knows he’s screwed since he can barely injure vampires on missions. He digs in the back of his mind for the first thing they were taught in training, which was the latter approach, you learn the different steps to get out of a hostile vampire encounter. First, you try to reason with them.
“You wouldn't kill me, would you? What if I was your friend? What if I told you secret information? You wouldn't wanna lose precious information, would you?” His voice is filled with barely masked fear, desperately trying to reason with the vampire. The handsome vampire…. No! He can't let his mind wander like that! He was supposed to hate vampires! But this one was just so alluring to him, and he had no idea why.
The vampire smirks with a teasing grin, his unnerving eyes running over the hunter. He knows he can get a good reaction out of him, so he decides to have some fun toying with him.
“I don't need any of that nonsense, I just need a little excitement in my life! Now how about you quit your squirming and become my little friend, hm? Life's a lot more fun when you're immortal, you know. You don't really have a choice either, because even if you say no, you're not going to be alive either way, you’ll be dead! Haha!” the vampire lets out a loud laugh, knowing this hunter is probably scared out of his mind.
Joseph was stunned. He had to either be the thing he hated, or die? How could he live with himself if he was a vampire? Would his teammates kill him?
As his mind was racing with different what if’s, he didn't realize how his face was looking because of how lost in thought he was.
“Such a hard decision, hmm?” the vampire teased. "you'll have to pick from a slow, painful death, or being killed by your friends. Decisions, decisions….” the man breathed harder on joseph’s neck, trying to make him lose his train of thought. “times a tickin’ buddy, i aint got all night”
“You talk a lot of bark for no bite” joseph angrily mumbles under his breath.
and that was it for the vampire, that sent him over the edge, and he sinks his teeth into joseph’s neck. Locking his jaw on his neck, biting as hard as he could.
This causes excruciating pain to him, though the pain slowly dies down as the loss of blood takes ahold of his life. In his last breath as his vision blurred, he quietly murmurs. “Filthy bloodsucker….”
