Bad Omens - Dying To Love [Review]

(Let me start this off: not a true music critic or anything, just thought it'd be fun to use this site as a place to post reviews of bands and songs lol.)

Bad Omens dropped three singles recently, and I've only listened to a handful of their songs so I thought this would be a good chance to get into them properly. Since I don't know them well, I didn't have many expectations other than, "well.. it'll be loud, right?" (LOL)

Dying To Love (7/10)

Something about this track just tickles my brain. I mean this in the most positive way possible, but this is the kind of song I'd see put on 2000s AMVs - especially the sad Naruto ones. While the lyrics aren't really grabbing at me as a whole, I did like this line:

• They call your name from ivory streets / But Heaven isn't quite what it seems

All in all, I like this song a lot! Gives me a hint of nostalgia somehow.

Impose (4/10)

Impose is a bit too slow for me I'm SORRYYYYYY. I'm not sure what it is, I like the music a bit less than the other two singles, but I love the lyrics the most from it. I suppose it's relatable to me in a way. I like these lyrics most:

• And I push everyone away on borrowed time, you know I can't repay
• Oh, I tried to settle in a life of relevance / But I long to be lost

I'll give it a few more listens and see if it grows on me, but right now it's my least favorite of the three.

Specter (9/10)

Hilariously enough I was NOT into it on my first listen, but now after a few more listens.. it's like Dying To Love's little sister - the lyrics read like someone who is numb to their lack of feeling loved, almost like they've given up on it whereas Dying To Love's lyrics sound more desperate to find that love.

• Something you're missing made you who you are
• But I've learned to life with the way that it hurts

I think the drop at the end is what got my attention the most, though. Something about Bad Omens' drops in their songs always raising my eyebrows, the best way I can describe it is like.. really good soap cutting ASMR. (LOL)
