I recently moved out to Philly and wanted to write a quick review of all the places I've been out to eat
1) Louie Louie
My parents took me there on Sunday, it's a French-American restaurant, and the food was really good. I had a egg benedict with Maine lobster and it was delicious and the sauce on the eggs was so creamy.
2) Ni- Adu African Bukateria
I've been there twice and the woman who owns it is so friendly and sweet. The first time I went there she looked at my pale ass and asked if the food was too spicy, and had me sample it and it was delicious. I had egusi soup and fufu for the first time and an okra dish and a fufu that was made differently was so spicy and so filling. I never had Nigerian food before this so I was happy that I could have authentic Nigerian food within walking distance of my apartment. If you are someone who doesn't like spicy food then Nigerian food isn't for you.
3) Abyssina
I went here for my birthday with some friends and the food was delicious. I loved the meat and vegetable samplers that you can get, the samplers allow you to try various different things in one meal, and it's super filling. I loved the injera and I loved the spicy injeria appetizer!
4) Vietnam Cafe
This place was so good and they're pho was super filling. I had the seafood one and the squid, the vegetables and other things were super chunky and generous and they give you brusselsprouts to put on your soup. I was very bummed out when I accidently spilled my soup on someone's porch by accident :(
5) Don Barriga
I had birria tacos there and they were super tasty and juicy. The consumme had a great taste to it and the prices were super reasonable too
6) La Carachita Taqueria
I had birria ramen in a huge cup for $15 and it was so tasty and so filling. I think $15 for a huge birria ramen is such a good deal
7) Morimoto
This place was so expensive and I was so thankful for my classmate that I'm friends with so take me there with her family. The sushi was so tasty and fresh, and the ingredients were imported from various prefectures in Japan. The appetizers such as the gyozas were really good and I love the addtion to the cracker on top of the dumplings. I also had the cold green tea soba noodles and those were super refreshing. I was just sad that I accidentally threw them out when I was trying to throw away the dish I had for lunch. I think this place is worth the hype but it is expensive and should be a spot you go to on special occasions
8) Paris Bugette
I think this place is hit or miss with their lattes, depending on where you go. I went to the center city location and they did not mix my matcha in my latte at all but the one in Upper Darby is good and the matcha latte there was decent
9) Haraz Coffee House
My friend loves this spot a lot, they do middle eastern/turkish coffee here but they do my favorite, the matcha latte. I find that the service is slow at times and they take a while to get your coffee but it's worth it to get good coffee they also have desserts you can get as well.
10) Manakeesh
They specialize in Lebanese food and they make good Manakeesh. I had their zaatar and labneh for the first time and it was so good and tasty, the zaatar has a nice earthy flavor and the other manakesh I tried which has Akka cheese tastes like a salty mozzarella cheese flavor. They also have other middle eastern foods and desserts (their baklava which they are known for)
11) Hadromout
I had their shafoot and their marag as appetizers and they were both so tasty. The lamb hanneth feel off the bone and the tomato chili sauce that came with it was so spicy and the spices enhanced the dish. The owner told me they slow cook the lamb for 4 hours which is crazy. I also tried their fish dish and it was super tasty and had great flavor and the bread they served was really good too
12) U Town
They make authentic Korean food. I've had Rabboki, the Korean army stew and the cold Korean noodle stew was so tasty. The menu is huge and there's so much things to select
13) Van Luween ice cream
They have great milkshakes and ice cream. I had their blueberry jelly donut milkshake and it was so good I would compare it to the milkshake I had at Ben & Jerry's
14) Milk Jawn
They have the best birthday cake ice cream I've ever had. My only complaint is that it's expensive but it is worth the money
15) Pelicana
They have good Korean corndogs, and it's a casual Korean fried chicken joint
16) Goncha Tea
I really liked the matcha latte and the strawberry milk tea there the only thing I didn't like was the toro milk tea probably because it was soo sweet for me.
17) Bessets Ice Cream
The best birthday cake ice cream I've had besides Milk Jawn. I want to try their matcha ice cream the next time
18) Beck's Cajun cafe
I love their gator gumbo and I found their gumbo to be super rich
19) Famous 4th Street Cookie Company
Some of the best cookies I've ever had they're so soft and chewy and they have so many flavor options. I'm happy they opened up a university city location I can walk to. If you go to this spot close to 5:30 they have discounts on their cookies before the reading terminal market closes
