I don't know what code you're using but this is what I've used <@img src="link"/@> just without the @'s, and put that code into the "<>" when writing a blog.
If you want to upload a photo to post, I upload photos onto imgbb and grab the html full link from the "<@/>" on the photo. From there, I just paste it into the blog, using the "<>", since it's already an embed code to use.
You are absolutely right! I'd even go further and say to use "cat box" so your images never disappear out of nowhere bc of the deleted photo site and all (just type cat box in your search bar, upload a photo, the link will appear, and it will stay safe forever, no need to be surprised about images disappearing.) Plus, if you want to go crazy, here's the whole code for uploading messages + to modify its size :
