Wowee, what a game.
Spoilers ahead, obviously!
So I began
my journey with Amnesia: The Dark Descent long ago, however for reasons
unknown I just kept putting it down after trying to play through it. I
think it was due to a peculiar level, the Choir which was so maze-like
and irritating with all the deaths that in my current playthrough (the
one where I finally completed the game) I just used a guide map, just
this once. But after a few hours and gawking at the amazing story and
scenery of the game, while also (without surprise) getting scared I
finally entered the inner sanctum and finished what I started with pure
adrenaline and a lack of medicine.
It is such a weird feeling,
the beautiful song and monologue. Tracing back Daniel's steps, out of
the castle. It felt like this journey started so long ago, even though I
was there, in the beginning like a week ago. It is so bittersweet,
looking back Daniels amazing journey. Him getting his redemption and
getting out before the castle crumbles.
All in all, I loved the game. I loved the setting, sound design, puzzles, monsters and voice acting and more. It is ultimately the most beautiful and melancholic horror game I have ever set my foot in.
