I've recently went to universal with my family in September, most parts were truly epic, but some were meh..
𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝙄 Monday.
lets start with the first day which was pretty laid back, we went to volcano bay for half the day, we thought there was gonna be rain but there wasn't. typical bipolar Florida weather lol. then chilled in cabana bay for the rest.
for context, Cabana Bay has early park admission from 8am to park open.
We arrived at volcano Bay at around 8am, The water park has it's own exclusive entrance park which was really
nice. we got private lounge chairs the was surrounded foliage, we also got a good view of the volcano! the first
slide we did was the most popular in the park, Krakatoa: Aqua Coaster! it wasn't as thrilling as i expected
ᶜᵒⁿᵗʳᵃʳʸ ᵗᵒ ᵐʸ ˢⁱˢᵗᵉʳ but still fun nonetheless! my sister actually had to sit in the front because of weight distribution,
she didn't like that lol. Our next slide was ika moana, this slide was pretty tame, nothing special.
My family thought differently though, they aren't really adrenaline junkies like me. anyways my next slide was
Honu, that slide was thrilling! but maybe a little too popular..didn't go on a busy day but I've heard it gets pretty
long lines. the next one was the tallest slide in the park, and possible the U.S? don't quote on that.
Ko'okiri Body Plunge! it's a trapdoor slide thats 70 degrees and 125ft! this was my first trapdoor slide, and boy was it suspenseful! i felt like i was free falling!
i did a couple more slides which were fun! but for time sake, and so i don't have to write a 10 page essay of my whole trip. i wont be mentioning them.
the final slides i went down was Maku and Puihi! (pooh-hee) i know.. these slide names are weird lol!
Theses are in my opinion the most underrated slides of this park! they aren't as big or beautiful as the ones in the front (Honu ika Moana) But Puihi packs a punch and Maku is much more interesting.
( i got waterboarded on Puihi.)
we also dipped in the two lazy rivers, one being laid back, and the other wild! like very wild.
We went to volcano bay on a Monday, that was the best time to go. there were no line and we got everything done in half the day!
side note: we went just before they got rid of the tapu tapu bands, i'd say on a non busy day, these were perfect!
there were even these Tiki statues that would take your picture if you tapped the wrist band on them!
Final rating? 10/10 If i could only spend a day at universal, i would pick the park. it's so beautiful and easy to
navigate since the parks layout is a big circle. The food was good and the caves in the volcano was fun to
explore!
(FYI the entrance to the caves are located right next to kala & tai Nui Serpentine slides, to the left. there's a wooden walkway that leads into the caves. it's a hidden gem!)
𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝙄𝙄 Tuesday.
This what i was most excited for... EPIC UNIVERSE! The Lands in this park were so fun! except for one, but i'll talk about it in a bit. let's start with the ones i loved!
Isle of Berk! (how to train your dragon.)
this has got to be my favorite land out of the five!
It's so well themed, Hiccups Wing Gliders was surprisingly Thrilling! and the dragon animatronics were so cool to view!
10/10
Dark Universe! (Classic Monsters.)
another well themed area, Frankenstein's experiment is my favorite ride in the park, and the burning blade tavern is in incredible sight! we saw egor and the invisible man wondering throughout the land of which we took photos with one of them of course! however i wish that it was more enclosed with foliage in the curse of the werewolf area, have more closed and cozy like a dark forest instead on open sky. only gripe, overall this land was great!
9/10
Super Nintendo land!
this land was fun! i loved the mini games which my sister and i were really good at!
We won the bob omb mini game, and the piranha plant mini game(which supposedly really hard without 3 or more people)
The Mario Kart ride wasn't really that fun. especially worth the wait time, 90 min for a more confusing M.I.B ride? nahhh
i din't ride the yoshi ride because it was raining and i couldn't mine cart madness because it was down all day.\
we ate at the toadstool cafe as an early evening snack, we got the tiramisu, garlic knots, and the boba drink, all were delicious! definitely stop by here for lunch or dinner!
And now time for the worst land.
Harry Potter and the ministry of Magic. (that's the name of the land. not the ride. even though the land is themed to Paris. what?)
this land was a whole nothing burger. we did eat lunch at Cafe L'air and it was meh the only thing good there is
the french onion soup, we did order the butter beer crepe, and it was nothing special also the cookie on top was gross.
Battle at the ministry had a long wait time so we peeped though the four shops. we didn't buy anything merch
because nothing jumped out at us. and i don't like J.K Rowling for obvious reasons. my mom did get a macaron
for me that we both tried, just.. ew... don't buy the macarons, the influencer's either lied to us or have no taste.
Now time for the ride! (which still had a long wait time.) my mom wanted to ride this. umm guys why does this get
long wait times? this ride was so confusing and boring. i did watch all the harry potter films including fantastic
beast (a long time ago.) and i didn't get anything from this. like is there really a time room in the ministry? or is
that made up for the rides sake? i'm not a harry potter fan and i am a firm believer that i shouldn't do homework
to ride a 2 min attraction. though this ride was pretty long. My mom is a major Harry Potter Fan and even she was confused. of course the animatronics and SFX were spectacular, but that was it, it felt like eye candy nothing else.
Land theming is great but boring?
it's themed to the streets of Paris. i mean the theming is accurate to french architecture but like thats it? it's just a city? the thousands of facades don't even have shops in them...
overall i think this land is a cash grab and fan service at most. The Star Wars land was better than this, and that land is basically a well themed mall
don't waste your time here.
Celestial park is the center of the park, its beautiful! and a great place to escape crowds! also eat at pizza moon, that was the best pizza i ever ate!
𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝙄𝙄𝙄 Wedenesday.
Islands of Adventure/Universal Studios
I've already been to these parks, i'll be quick with this. i love these parks! they have great theming, a good atmosphere, and amazing food! the grub here may seem overpriced, but trust me, it's worth every penny!
we also went to Halloween Horror nights! which was ok.. let me explain.
since we had a park to park ticket to universal, we got to get a wristband for early admission to the haunted houses! i got 5 houses done before the park opened which was nice! everything was well themed we ate at mels dine in, they roller skating waiter/waitress zombies in the front!
the scare zones were well themed! except the one in the Hollywood section of the park which is usually never that well themed in the first place sooo..
I LOVED TERRIFIER BEST IP HAUNTED HOUSE THERE.
Five Nights at Freddy,s was more of an experience than a haunted house, though a spectacular one!
fallout is bad, like omg you had something good to work with you chose a lame bug scare?? yeesh..
Jason(Friday the 13th) was boring. nothing else to say here.
My favorite out of all was El Artista: a Spanish haunting! all i'm gonna say is HUGE mansion facade! excellent work!
although the houses and scare zones were fun, the crowds were so bad, i'm lucky i got express because the houses were in the 80-180 min waits... HHN the crowds were better this year, but if the is the best than your not trying hard enough..
𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝙄𝙑
This was our last day, so we wondered through CityWalk which is basically a glorified cafeteria, so there was nothing to really do, besides 2 shops, an escape room(which you have to pay for obv.) and a club. we did eat at toothsome for lunch, that was good! of course i got a milkshake, it was red velvet!
Conclusion
I love Universal so much! it's always a treat to go, Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay are a MUST, universal studios is great! Epic Universe is fantastic! and Halloween Horror Nights was fun but crowded.
everything was great! except The harry Potter land and it's ride at Epic Universe. It's obvious it's a cash grab and nothing else.
