How to find old and obscure YouTube videos!

Not really sure how to categorize this but for a while I've known about a YouTube channel called KVN AUST that does this series finding extremely obscure old YouTube videos.

Essentially, many people upload YouTube videos as simply their file name without ever renaming them. By knowing these formats, you can find a seemingly endless stream of old, obscure, and forgotten content.

Here, I have attached the format for the files. ^

Pick whatever format you want. If you want specifically old videos I recommend formats where you can pick a date, so I picked the VID format. Something to note when searching for videos, be sure to use a private/incognito tab, due to the overall degradation of YouTube's search function, if you search while signed in it will oftentimes spam random content in the search results it thinks you want to watch, instead of what you searched for.

But anyways, for my search I wanted to find old videos from around 2010, so I picked a random day in that year and ended up with VID 20100904. I searched it on YouTube, and picked the first video I saw with no views, which was a video of a man and a woman singing in front of a crowd.

Now this is just an example, you can constantly mix and match dates and file formats to find all sorts of old videos. I also highly recommend going to the channel of the uploader, since you can oftentimes find other similar content without having to trial and error search results. There's something so interesting about finding these old videos, it almost feels akin to walking in on something you weren't supposed to see, most people that uploaded these videos likely uploaded them thinking only a few close friends or family members would see them, or in the case of some, none at all.

Hope this guide is helpful!
