Gay Halloween

Just got home from my city's gaybourhood's Halloween block party! If you were there and saw an awkward tboy in a Femboy Hooters uniform and godawful smudged eyeliner, that was me! I probably thought you were cool and wanted to tell you I loved your outfit but unfortunately I'm about as well-socialized as a rabid squirrel and cannot communicate like a regular human being. Sorry!

But wow what a lovely time! Everyone's costumes were gorgeous, such a wide variety of humans and all of them beautiful! Being in a queer-dominated space always feels so safe and affirming and loving in a way I just don't get anywhere else. Especially seeing other visibly trans and/or gender non-conforming folks just fills me with indescribable joy.

On our way in we passed some protesters, because apparently these jack-offs have nothing better to do than to protest a Halloween party on a Saturday night. There were just a few of them, not as many as I see at Pride, and pretty easy to avoid. Unfortunately, my dumb ass saw the guy handing out little "you're-going-to-hell" cards and assumed he was some kind of promoter offering coupons to one of the bars (I hadn't even had any drinks yet, my brain is just swiss cheese). I took a card and thanked the guy, took about two seconds to realize the piece of paper would not, in fact, allow me to get a slightly less expensive drink, then tore it up and threw it out right in front of the dude. Probably a bewildering interaction from his perspective, but honestly fuck him!

Other than that, the night was wonderful. I am so glad to be alive to experience this, and hope whoever reads this lives to finds a place they belong as well.
