If I Could

if i could,

I´d build you a new body from sunshine and gentleness,

stitch your skin with laughter,

and teach your blood how to sing again.

if i could,

I´d make your kidneys rivers,

clear and calm and endless,

so nothing inside you ever had to fight again.

I´d gather every ache from your spine,

cradle it in my palms,

and whisper it to sleep.

I´d tell your pain it doesnt live here anymore--

that it can fade into the night

and leave you whole.

You´ve always been the universe

in human disguise.

Every time you brush my hair fromy my face, give me a hug, caress my back,

the galaxies sigh in relief,

because love like yours

is what keeps them turning.

I know i cant heal you,

but i can love you loud enough

to  make the darkness hesitate,

before leaving me without you.

I can sit by your bed,

print little bears and ghosts and hearts,

and remind you that the world still holds

tiny pieces of wonder.

If i could trade anything,

you know i would--

my health, my years, my peace--

just so you could wake without fear.

But for now,

i´ll stay beside you,

lighting the softest candles i own,

whispering to every god who listens:

"please, keep her safe.

Shes my first home."

I love you.
