Abortion should be legal because every person deserves the right to make decisions about their own body and future. Forcing someone to continue an unwanted or unsafe pregnancy can harm their health, education, and overall well-being. It’s also unfair that society often judges women for getting pregnant but then criticizes them again for choosing abortion—showing clear double standards. People should have the freedom to decide what’s best for their lives without being shamed or controlled by others’ beliefs.
Abortion SHOULD be legal, in any cases.

I completely agree that it should be legal to be honest I don’t even think it could be considered a baby. Well I think that it should also be like.. mostly for people that got SA’d cause yeah I mean..like you do that to me and I should also keep it? I mean I do completely agree that it’s still a baby but fuck no I’m not gonna ruin my life just cause of some stupid dumbass fucking guy..

THANK YOUUU

it pisses me off people say "a fetus is still a baby!!!!" no it's a fetus. and it doesn't have a brain.
also we already have 8 billion people in a population one removed fetus isn't gonna threaten human extinction

Moreover, banning abortion doesn’t stop it...it only forces it into unsafe, clandestine environments, putting pregnant people at greater risk and fueling illegal markets that profit from vulnerability and danger.
Btw sorry for my english :,,,ddddd I used translate cuz my english es tan basico pwrdon...

it's absurd to me how pro-life people will advocate for no abortion and force an unwilling, ill, underage, raped, or simply just not ready person to go through nine months of carrying a fetus. they'll say that you can put them up for adoption! you can just give it away and everyone will be happy! it's "not a problem anymore" if you just push the thing out and then hand it off.
and uh. well. look at our foster care system. look at how expensive it is to raise children. time intensive. whether you keep it or someone else raises it, there's a lot of work and suffering to be had. and the medical expenses of giving birth? the changes to the body over the course of nine months? the nine month long experience and then the post birthing healing process?
children should only be given birth to by a person who wants a child. how difficult is that to understand?

I disagree, actually. No idea why people all seem to agree on that.

i'm talking about the BASIC SCIENCE of a fetus that slowly turns into a baby, most of the time when a child gets ab0rted they DON'T FEEL ANYTHING.

If you kill someone who cant feel pain is that not murder?

it's so sad that a lot of people from where i live still think abortion is cruel :((
look up how late term abortions work
by chuddie; ; Report
"Late term abortions" are mostly a myth and are very rarely and only performed in the event of severe fetal abnormalities (such as anencephaly) or severe risks to the pregnant individual's health (though in the latter case, this would usually lead to a live premature birth).
Nobody can just walk up to their local Planned Parenthood and request an abortion after 24 weeks. In the US, there must be a valid medical reason for a woman to have an abortion beyond reaching the fetal viability mark.
Sorry to rain on your typical conservative strawman argument here.
by xxRebellious_Emmaxx; ; Report
Around 4,100 late term abortion happen per year, which involves ripping the baby's limbs off and crushing it's skull to remove it from the womb. I dont see how that's acceptable just because the child would be deformed if born.

only in cases such as a harmful pregnancy, congenital defects of the child detected during pregnancy, or pregnancy resulting from rape

When reading the title, i thought it was a reference to that "Abortion is murder and should be illegal" Debate
Naya
I know! It infuriates me, especially when it involves religious families and their beliefs. It doesn't seem fair to have to bear the burden of an unwanted child while the child suffers the consequences of problems that could have been avoided... Anyway, I hope this changes.

I agree, but not to all cases.. at 7 months old the fetus is an almost "fully baked" baby, it can already kick and suck its thumb.. in my opinion there should be a month limit
;;not sure if you meant a 1-month limit or just that there should be a limit in general, but adding this in case others don’t realise how small it is: at 1 month it's still a tiny cluster of cells, and even at around 9 weeks (2 months) it's about the size of a grape and abortions are safely done with pills, not surgery
tbh in my opinion even after 20 weeks, abortion should still be a choice, since some serious fetal abnormalities or health risks only show up later (e.g. neural tube defects), and forcing women into high-risk/non-viable pregnancies when abortion can still be safely performed because of fixed limits doesn't sound right
by naeyuri; ; Report
not 1 month lol, but i think after 4 or 5 months it should be illegal, in my opinion at least. im no expert, but from the research ive done i think its a fair limit
by aq0a; ; Report
oh yeah sorry i just wasn't sure what you meant by "a month limit"
i live in nz where there's no upper limit for abortion if it's clinically appropriate and i feel like it's the most humane approach since it takes individual situations into account instead of enforcing an arbitrary limit, but it's a controversial opinion ig🫣
by naeyuri; ; Report
I'm pretty sure 24 weeks is generally the limit in many places (such as the state I live in) due to that being considered the age of viability, when the fetus would have about a 50% chance of survival outside of the womb.

"I think the government should keep they big noses out of business like this. What if the woman is a victim of rape, or if she's dying and needs the abortion? Then it should be legal, hands down. But if the woman is promiscuous, and she gets pregnant, she has to face the consequences, no questions asked. You can't just take a life away before it starts just so you can keep sleeping around. But you also can't force someone to have a baby that they would not be happy having after being raped, and the father is that rapist." - DottyB
my exact point because I have been through just that. I've been raped and I don't want to keep that child around expecially because it give him a reason to come around more often and track me down without getting in trouble and people would just say "oh well he is the father" and then he tried and do it again. and before y'all come for me I am 14...... 14 and dealing with ts.

Something with different DNA from you cannot be your body
THIS.
by Dana Scully; ; Report
not sure if this is pro or against
by boêmio; ; Report
It's against. You're free to make choices that affect YOUR body, but the fetus is NOT your body. It is it's own body with its own unique DNA. And entirely separate being.

as a person living in a country where medical abortion is banned, 100% YES. I've seen firsthand how abortion bans and lack of sex education harm a country and its people and the last thing I want is for other countries, especially America, to be the same!
