Are CDs expensive or is it just me?

Maybe I'm just cut out for the physical media life, but i feel like 14 euro for a basic CD is a bit much. I get it if it's a cool or special edition but the backing on the jewel case isn't even see-through half of the time!

Don't get me started on buying they used from private resellers... why is the price like 100-200% higher than they are in thrift stores? I would understand if u had to ship them, but that isn't even part of the pricing! The other day, I drove to this guys house to pic up 5 CDs. One case was broken and an other was only a single, and I got no kind of discount :/

The only way it's worth it to collect CDs is if you buy them from a thrift store, and if they don't have the CDs you want? Though luck buddy.

(I'll probably continue to collect and pay whatever the price is for the CDs I want anyway. It's better than not owning any of the music you like, i guess.)

another canadian commenter here, but new cds at the mall are usually like $10-12 dollars here, heck I even got a nine inch nails cd BRAND NEW for like $7.50 at the mall a few months ago.

but yeah, I also feel like thrifting is usually the best option, especially for me bc I'm absolutely broke and my local thrift stores usually have a lot of alt rock I like. All for like $0.33 - $2.00 CAD each
And even if there's nothing THAT good that day, I can usually walk out with some decent pop/r&b cds and maybe some classical. I think prices mostly depend on what genres you collect and also what stores you go to.

Yeah no the average cd is like 10 - 12 bucks in canada (6 - 8 euros), and that's without any special shit so yeah you're overpaying. 14 euros (22 CAD) usually means that there's a 2nd cd included or it's a brand new release. Idk how much the reseller guy was selling those 5 cds for, so I can't really say anything. Their price can vary a lot depending if it's still in print or a special edition.

I live in a kinda expensive country, but its like 14 euro for every single CD if you buy it new, no matter if its old 90's music or the newest release (those might actually be more expensive but it depends).
I bought the 5 CDs for 15.5 euro total, which isn't awful, but at a thrift there are usually around 1.5 for one CD, so I felt a bit annoyed. But it's just so difficult finding music I actually like at thrift stores here :(

Yeah it's not a terrible deal, depending on the albums ofc and if they had any extra damage besides the cracked case. Could be better but I don't really know much about cds in europe.

Also real af thrifting for cds is a pain in the ass.

Most of sellers have “If you want it cheap you need to thrift it, if you want to find it now you need to pay me much” mentality. I always choose the thrift path, much slower but also much satisfying.
