you opened your eyes, wide and awake.
you took your breath, again.
hearts beat, hearts ache.
but you were hopeful, amidst the group of other men.
you were reborn during the midnight,
when the vampires awaken.
your shadow has created its own light,
women ponder, children break in.
your absence has affected us like a flood of sorrow.
silence screamed through the voices of the mortals,
however, noise whispered and never followed,
and yet your name lingers in the empty portals.
the night becomes a cathedral of longing,
echoes crawl along the walls of the mortals,
even shadows taste your belonging,
yet we drift, unnoticed, through hollow portals.
the wind folds around the shape of your absence,
the stars tremble like fragile glass.
voices break and reform in your silence,
and we are swallowed by the hollowness you cast.
