(room tour!) how to cope with losing all of your stuff and moving into a trailer

This is less of a room tour, and more of a 'room memorial'.

All of this stuff has either been packed away, or sold. Most of it, sold for real cheap. See, I obviously like hoarding stuff I like, but I'm way too broke to be buying that all in one day. I spent years finding all my favorite movies on tape at goodwill, or getting lucky enough to find some poster at the thrift store. So I can't, in good conscious, sell any of this crap for money.

But it breaks my heart to part with all of this useless bull crap I've surrounded myself with. Here are some pictures, taken at various dates, of my room a little. It's all cheap trash, but it was treasure to me.

My Windows 98 computer- the one I quite literally made this page with, is my baby. I am fortunate enough that I am allowed to pack this one for the trip. Granted, I'll be living in a camper, so there is no space for it. But eventually, when I move out and can afford to rent, he'll come out!

I'm not much for the camera-- in fact I'm NEVER for the camera-- but this was taken one morning before school by my older brother. (Ignore the time stamp, it's 12 hours off.) I'm blinking, of course.

It also just occurred to me that I'm wearing the same outfit in my profile picture- I have more outfits I swear. I usually wear a tie, actually.

That Garfield piggy bank got me through some tough eras. Gave it away to some rando from Facebook marketplace to go with a side table he bought for 15 bucks.

I think the hardest thing to part with, was my television. It always worked beautifully- and it was such a hassle to find it! I got it for 50 bucks from some estate sale, and this thing is HUGE. Here's me playing Peggle on it. Pretty much the only thing in this picture I was able to keep was my VCR. On the shelf adjacent to the TV, you can see a little of my Star Trek shelf.

Pretty much my whole house has been emptied and shoved into boxes, but unfortunately, 99% of my belongings didn't count as "essential" items.

And to add further insult to injury, it's not like I'm moving into a house either. Rent has always been abhorrent, but it's finally time to move into some fuckass trailer in the middle of nowhere. I'm being a little dramatic, but I ain't exactly happy to lose all of my space, things, and the literal place I grew up in, to go move out to the country and live in a camper.

I appreciate the 'roblox obby' esque path my dad crafted out of bricks to avoid tracking mud into our place.

But life is life, I guess. The circle of life (for trinkets) goes on. I've found plenty of great items for real cheap, just because the owner was forced to part with them. Now it's my turn.

Despite how people charge out the ass for tapes/records, when it was time to sell all 435 cassettes, 82 records, and a few dozen 8 tracks (I counted.), people made a KILLING. I can't exactly charge a guy what they do now for music, without feeling cartoonishly evil. I was able to keep a few select albums, some that I had emotional attachment to-- but all and all, my collection is gone. I had a guy talk me down from 20 bucks to 15 bucks for about a lot of 150 tapes. I hope you're enjoying them, at least.

It'll be weird as fuck not having a shower or nothing, but we ball. This is an insanely negative post, and for that I apologize, but this is quite a change in a fella's lifestyle. I still have to be going to school (senior year HS) in all of this. Not like I can afford college anyways, obviously.

Anyways, that's what was!

Man that's a cool room... It's such a shame you had to get rid of most of it, I would've fought tooth & nail to keep it (not that u didn't). I'm so sorry but also highly hope that sometime after tomorrow you'll get a proper house with enough space to cram in as many things as u like (I certainly would want one) :)

Dude I'm sorry, I can't imagine parting with anything I've grown an attachment to. I'm too sentimental for that XD I'm glad you're not *too* distraught and seem to be okay with the idea of pushing forwards. Hope things go well for you and your family xx
