spontaneous before-school adventure (road transport posting)

this is where my stupid autistic transport/history nerd side is gonna pop out

So two days ago, for some reason I ended up getting to school like 40 minutes before my class began. NO CLUE as to why!! Usually I will get there barely even on time but for some reason my body (without reading the time mind you) just got my act together and gave me a chance to study and revise before the day ahead. So naturally, I walked right past the gates and continued on to sus out some nearby areas that I'd never checked out on foot yet always wanted to.

The rest of this is just random photos of buildings, buses, cars and trucks really like there's nothing here for regular people I just really like old things like this that still survive in one way or another.

(You'll be seeing a lot more train content on this blog in future posts, don't worry ;D)

lucas' international (he'll never get it mwahahaha)

Theres this one boat yard that has a storage site, they use a very old International tow-truck that some of my mates have been trying desperately to see running haha. Would be cool to preserve this one after it retires.

In the shed is also this old Yellow International, has the same "Amy" nameplate on the side. Hasn't been registered for many years, missing headlights and runs on LPG so I don't reckon this one will get saved anytime soon. Nice little truck though. I'm not even the biggest truck guy but I always have a soft spot for these old cabovers.

Walking down a bit further I spotted this Veolia front-loader emptying the dumpsters at BP. Another kind of vehicle that'll likely never get saved. Not the most particularly rare nor old thing but still an everyday sight that goes undocumented, then forgotten for good. Veolia as a company is interesting, they're a massive transnational corporation that used to operate our local bus services too back in the 2000s.

GODDD I LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH, right across from BP is this ANCIENT service station, still retains all of its old hand-painted signage and whatnot. You can still get your car repaired here, although you can only buy ciggies instead of food and drinks. I was genuinely tempted to get a Redbull or something here to make this trip worth something but alas.

This lot of two old industrial buildings interested me, currently being used by a marine business.

"Toolmasters Pty Ltd", apparently registered 12/12/1962. I can only assume it was at this site all the way up until either 2015 or 2019, but these letters were always in some form of disrepair lol. Pretty cool to see something that's survived for 63 years!

On my way back, OLD ACCO JUMPSCARE! These have been getting harder and harder to find, and a lot in different garbage-truck circles (yes they exist) seem to love them quite a lot.

On my way back, I spotted this truly ancient Bus Stop. I can only assume it was from a private operator in the area now long gone. Perhaps 1960s/70s?

And to conclude, the 'goblin' 1975 in the process of a crew change, complete with the crew car! Never been able to catch one of these happening before, so I'm quite glad that I was there in the right place at the right time.

Another everyday occurrence that would have gone forgotten had it not been photographed.

This is definitely one of my more niche things, but look, this whole website is about autistic people info-dumping completely random things, just like the glory days of the internet. I'm more than proud to uphold that tradition of content that no one will ever read!
