WORST - BEST FANDOMS I'VE BEEN IN!

⚑ Opinion! + spoilers

I've been a dedicated fandom goer ever since I gained awareness or could use the family computer so I feel like ranking every fandom I've ever been in. Some of these I was heavily active in the fandom, others I completely avoided. Ranking both the actual content AND the fans. ** NO SPECIFIC ORDER**

⚑  What I consider having a 'fandom': Youtubers, music artists, videogames, TV series, movies, + more (anything that could have a fan base/players)

Five Nights At Freddy's

→ Media Rating: 7/10- Call me a fake fan, I never really played the game myself but instead I was hugely into gameplays 乁| ･ 〰 ･ |ㄏ I was really into FNAF in the early years but around maybe the 2nd/3rd game I lost track of the lore and moved on (who tf are the Aftons...). But like otherwise? I liked the story a lot from what I know and the games are pretty well made so...

→ Fandom Rating: 8/10- Again, I was there in the early years, pre-Gacha, so the most I remember were like Shugurr animatics and speed paints but generally all fun? I can't remember if there were any surface level scandals either? And maybe this is just nostalgia speaking, but I truly just remember having a lot of fun looking at fan content and I never really saw discourse ¯\_ʘ‿ʘ_/¯ Could be different now LOLL

My Little Pony

→ Media Rating: 8/10- Its a kid show, I'm not about to deeply analyze the lore of colorful ponies. Much like FNAF, at a certain point I moved on (somewhere within the 3rd season?). Yes, early on but I like... grew up... so...

→ Fandom Rating: 2.5/10- for traumatizing me o.O I watched a lot of things I shouldn't have but then again this fandom was like 70% adult ass men. This was a fandom I learned a lot of things I shouldn't have, especially through those .mov videos and poorly made gore animatics. And I saw SO MUCH FUCKING FETISH NSFW ART DEAR LORD... Not all negative, because I was always more into the creepypasta side of the fandom anyways (specifically Rainbow Factory, Elements of Insanity, Pinkamena), I just lowkey wish I had a little bit more supervision while on the internet back then T.T

Creepypasta

→ Media Rating: 4.5/10- Listen... like everything from this was written by a 12 year old. The lore is so bad its good. Insanely edgy stuffy but like so edgy its not. Does that make sense? The bar was low but we had fun

→ Fandom Rating: 5/10- Watched a lot of those Slenderman caught on camera videos on late school nights, this was also the era of the Slenderman stabbings as well which was crazy to see when it happened. Like all of a sudden adults are talking about some thing that you thought only 14 and belows knew about... Yeah some people were INSANELY dedicated to creepypasta (not just.. y'know... the stabbers), for me I stayed kind of surface level?

Melanie Martinez

→ Media Rating: 5.5/10- If she had only ever released Crybaby and K-12 this rating would be higher. ESPECIALLY after Portals released, along with years of controversies, I just couldn't listen anymore. I love the Crybaby album and lore with all my heart. I remember staying up all night for the release of K-12. But I cannot stand her music now, among... other things.

→ Fandom Rating: 2/10- Melanie stans can be FUCKING CRAZY. I know because I was one of them. The Timothy Heller allegations dropped in like... 2018 I believe? And oh my god the fucking lengths I and others went to defend Melanie and trash Timothy were insane. I understand there was hate on all sides but you cannot deny that Melanie has the clearly bigger and more dedicated fan base. I'm bummed as all hell that Melanie isn't great (besides the rape allegations) because I used to idolize the hell outta her. 

→ Notes: She was definitely easier to defend when her music was good... (｡T ω T｡)

Heathers: The Musical

→ Media Rating: 9/10- This entire soundtrack be MEMORIZED. BANGERS AND BANGERS I TELL YOU. They did a great job with adapting it into a musical and I still be rocking out to this soundtrack like whenever I can ^^

→ Fandom Rating: 8.5/10- I hear from others that this fandom was toxic but I literally never ever saw that. To be fair I just watched animatics all day. Hamilton and Heathers sort of coexisted at the same time, so I'm including that as well with this rating. So many animatics.........

Animal Jam

→ Media Rating: 8/10- Not anything crazy to rate. Obviously I hated all the pay walls as a kid but compared to some other games Animal Jam was not that bad. Also hated the dumb ass censoring in this game but cannot deny that its in place for a reason. I think compared to a lot of other kids games this game didn't have as many erm predators! At least not as blatantly as like... fucking Movie Star Planet WHICH WE WILL GET TO.

→ Fandom Rating: 8/10- Dude IDK I just had a lot of fun. Ran into very little problems with others and I loved those dumb ass Animal Jam AMV/stories?/music videos kids would always make. Obviously there was a COMPETITIVE trading system in this game but since I was always broke as shit I never had problems :P Mostly roleplayed instead of trading and stuffs

Movie Star Planet

→ Media Rating: 1/10- Oh my god I don't think this was just a me problem but this game ran at like 2 frames a minute. I literally had to ask my friends if it was the same for them?? Did a single person ever play this game and have it actually run smoothly? Not to mention just how generally this game is SO FUCKING BUGGY. Half the features didn't work... MSP was also very infamous for online dating and pedophilia which I didn't see myself but I'M NOT SHOCKED... the shit you could get away with in this game...

→ Fandom Rating: 4/10- BESIDES PEDOPHILIA AND ONLINE DATING! I also loved those AMVS and music videos people would make. I loved dressing up and seeing others outfits. But like... otherwise... idk guys... people in this game were always so mean

Harry Potter

→ Media Rating: 8.5/10- Listen... I know JK is like the imbodiement of evil- but like... goddamn I love(d) these books/movies. Don't get me wrong they are not perfect!!!, like seriously they are littered with potholes but like... yeah this is escapism. I mean like still fuck that terf JK I wont lie her writing is weak at times (ex: some of her crazy ass character name choices) (and you can sense some real deep racism sometimes) (black character named kingsley shacklebolt?? holy shit) but I'd really like to seperate the work from the writer. Hatsune Miku wrote Harry Potter ^^

→ Fandom Rating: 5/10- Famously this fandom is full of Disney-adult like people. Weird ass Drarry shippers and people who go crazy "shifting" to Hogwarts so they can fuck Draco... bffr. I think the best part of this fandom is SPECIFICALLY the Marauders fandom which is kind of its own separate thing? Otherwise... a lot of millienials... eh....

→ Notes: This series was like crack to me in 4-5th grade. like cannot deny the impact. I had so much fucking HP merchandise oh bitch you don't even know. <3 Remus Lupin and Luna Lovegood

SMP Live

→ Media Rating: 9/10- kids these days don't even know what we had... before the DSMP... before COVID... SMP Live era is for the history books; like so many Youtubers/streamers involved and videos that dropped... like we took it for granted. I'm clearly talking with a lot of nostalgia for pre-covid but genuinely I loved the SMP Live era and I MISS WHAT WE HAD BEFORE CALLMECARSON'S STUPID AHH GOT CANCELLED AND EVERYTHING FELL APART .·´¯`(>▂<)´¯`·.

→ Fandom Rating: 8/10- "fandom" is really general here because like there were so many people involved I can't really name a specific thing about the fandom. Like the fandom was just all the fans of streamers/Youtubers involved. Don't think there was any drama? If my memory serves me correct?

Vocaloid

→ Media Rating: 10/10- IDC I still listen to Vocaloid music. 

→ Fandom Rating: 9.5/10- Sometimes y'all argue over the dumbest shit for real. Like NONE OF THE VOCALOIDS HAVE CANON AGES OR RELATIONSHIPS GET IT THROUGH YOUR SKULL but like even then there are not a lot of people causing problems here. I actually see more people responding to controversies than actual controversies.

Yandere Simulator

→ Media Rating: 2/10- Yandere Dev when you tell him to work on the game he hasn't finished in 15 fucking years 😱 But for real I felt like this game has potential.. BUT HIS DUMB ASS OH MY GOD. If we remove that CREATURE for the conversation the game itself was only fun because the Youtubers who played it made it fun (Kubzscouts I salute you). Like the CREATURE made a game so buggy and unfinished a YouTuber dedicated years of videos just finding different ways to break the game... c'mon now...

→ Fandom Rating: 5/10- Listen we had to work with what we got. I cannot deny I loved the rap battles and fan made media (that one fan made animated trailer?? yknow the one??). The people really did the best they could with what they got. I wish this whole deal didn't even involve the CREATURE but cannot deny he does have a big impact on how I view the fandom ಠ_ಠ

Sander's Sides

→ Media Rating: 9/10- I rewatched the series over again a few years back, it actually holds up really well?? Yes it is very much millennial that's just because its Thomas Sanders so please have mercy. But seriously? Its genuinely good okay...

→ Fandom Rating: 8.5/10- Oh my god the fucking self shipping... what kind of sickos were doing that...? (me, btw. I was). Yes this is a very onceler-like fandom. This was the fandom I learned about shipping culture (or what it used to be). New agers don't know that back then that shipping names were made by making the top the first part of the name and the bottom the second half- and the WARS that would ensue because of this. We used to be a civilized country!!

→ Notes: Me at 12 shipping emo Thomas Sanders with prince Thomas Sanders and then shipping nerd Thomas Sanders with father Thomas Sanders- real ones understand.

Voltron: Legendary Defenders

→ Media Rating: 4/10- I had to drop this show after a certain point really early on but I watched the finale just for the hell of it when it came out- so dogshit. Randomly made a main character gay in the last 4 minutes of the 7th season. I wish I was joking right now. But otherwise the show had such a fun strong start. I love the characters dearly I JUST HATE HOW BAD THE SHOW GETS SO FAST. T_T

→ Fandom Rating: 1/10- God the war on Klance shippers was no joke. This was a fandom seriously infamous for nonstop drama and chaos. There are probably hours long videos discussing every issue the fandom had...

Royale High:

→ Media Rating: 6/10- I miss old Royale High so bad!! I loved loved loved the clothes in this game no matter how overpriced and I roleplayed so fucking much in this game!! Just to find out that they got rid of ALL MY FAVORITE PLACES?? FANTASIA HOTEL? ALL THE OG MAPS?? And the fact that like no one plays this game anymore. But from what I remember, a fun ass game. Lags like a mf. Haven't touched it since 2020 and I'll keep it that way.

→ Fandom Rating: 6.5/10- People were so lethal trading in this game. The fight for halos was not a joke. In all my years playing I only got a one halo but I feel for those who've played longer and never gotten a single one. But I really did like the roleplay culture in this game. Yes, online dating was an issue. I was a contributor with all the times I pretended to be boy and got chicks <///3

Doki Doki Literature Club:

→ Media Rating: 9/10- No complaints about the game itself for real. It's been super long since I've seen a walkthrough but its good ig!

→ Fandom Rating: 9/10- Pretty chill fandom? There were like... some gooners in the fandom but if you stayed away from those few you were good. And the fan made content was cool- like there are some DDLC songs that are insane bangers.

Gacha (Studio + Life):

→ Media Rating: 8/10- Gacha studio was obviously very limited but Gacha life was pretty good with customization. I've played some of the newer games and WOW they have so much customization that its actually so overwhelming LMFAO... Game itself isn't bad... the fandom tho!

→ Fandom Rating: 3/10- How does one even explain this fandom? I was so deep into Gacha life. I knew all of the creator lore and every single scandal I could get my grubby hands on. On one side: I lowkey loved how kids were just so endlessly cringe in this fandom, me included. Like there was no shame because everything was so garbage. On the other side: gacha heat and slop and sensitive topics being fumbled. Most of gacha heat was ragebait/trolls but there was a lot of... genuine stuff. I don't know, I'm torn...

→ Notes: my alpha bodyguard is the lost princess and straight in a gay school boys versus girls singing battle glmm?

My Hero Academia:

→ Media Rating: 4.5/10- I've only seen about half of the actual show... I've heard some say that the manga is better but I haven't read it. I got into the fandom before watching the show and was disappointed. Because I loved all the side characters but the entire show is just about fuckass Deku (´;︵;`) The fandom made the show look like it was peak- it was not!!

→ Fandom Rating: 5/10- Very cringe fandom but you didn't need me to tell you that. I actually liked a lot of it, especially all the fan art of all the side characters. Like I was so excited because they seemed so cool in the fandom, just to watch the show and find out the characters got 0.3 seconds of screentime. 5/10 FOR BAITING ME!!!

→ Notes: the frog girl and the guy with robot legs and the crow guy and the earbuds emo girl were my favs

The Promised Neverland:

→ Media Rating: 7.5/10- Biggest season 2 fumble ever seen I history. Don't watch season 2, just watch season 1 and have a good life. This series works really well if you just consume it as a single  season with an open ended finish yk? Sometimes a little mystery is good. Points reduced for racist ass character design but otherwise... its so good. I need to rewatch this so bad now that I think about it... 

→ Fandom Rating: 6/10- I kind of arrived late to the TPN party so I feel like... there wasn't much going on besides the dumbass ass "Connie = 🥩" jokes that got old quick. IDK. Not a lot to comment on.

→ Notes: I used to be so obsessed with listening to 'Isabella's Lullaby' it got banned in the household.

Kakegurui:

→ Media Rating: 3.5/10- Okay lowkey this show was super fun and very out there with a cool concept but I COULD NOT STAND THE MALE PROTAGONIST INSERT GUY. LIKE SHUT YO GOOFY ASS UP. And the fact that this whole show was built on being lesbian softcorn porn for dudes!! For some reason I watched this and it didn't click that it was about highschoolers as well... why??? I think I hate on this show a lot because I remember who I was watching it...

→ Fandom Rating: 4/10- Low rating for hateful, personal, bias reasons. I cosplayed Midari in middle school IN PERSON in front of OTHERS for NO REASON and I can't take that back.

Stranger Things:

→ Media Rating: 6.5/10- the show definitely gets less good as it goes on but like... without my personal bias I really liked the beginning of the show. Season 1 is a masterpiece, but it gets kind of corny the longer it runs. And its hard to ignore the actors outgrowing their roles so fast. The last season is out soon and I'm not sure how excited I am about watching it.

→ Fandom Rating: 5/10- The fandom is... tough. Especially all the Eddie Munson stans that made the whole show look bad. I try not to be too associated with them ( ；∀；)

Little Nightmares:

→ Media Rating: 10/10- whole series is peak. LN1 made me crashout (positive). LN2 ending made me sick to my stomach. Peak. Play the games.

→ Fandom Rating: 10/10- chill ass fandom. Very on the lowkey since there are not a lot of us here. But I love the small fandom content there is. I seriously wish more people would get into LN since the new game is coming out soon. I love the fan theories and fanart and animations PLEASE GOD REVIVE THIS FANDOM FOR ME!! (๑♡⌓♡๑)

Deathnote:

→ Media Rating: 7.5/10- gonna be a little controversial for a second so PLEASE HEAR ME OUT. I got so fucking bored after L died. The series completely fell off. All the tension was completely gone. If you felt the same way I seriously recommend the musical- its my favorite rendition of the Deathnote story with a better ending as well. The soundtrack is also so fucking good holy!!! Besides that I love Deathnote. 

→ Fandom Rating: 8/10- Fandom doesn't exist that much anymore since its an older series. But whatever content there is I do thoroughly enjoy. Well. Don't enjoy people hating Misa. Don't like the people who idolize Light. But pretty chill all around? And fucking AMAZING FANART HERE TOO!!

→ Notes: I'm so down bad for Matsuda. I NEED HIM...

Morel Orel:

→ Media Rating: 8/10- only rated lower because the fuckers at Adult Swim cancelled the show too early (dear god there be a good depiction of sexual assault OMG!) so the ending is pretty rushed. Otherwise... peak.

→ Fandom Rating: 8.5/10- I rarely see content I can't agree with and all the show analysis videos are like crack to me. A fair share of old man doomed yaoi guys warning !!! But other than that there is like... not a lot here. Another sort of small fandom ┐(´ー｀)┌

Resident Evil:

→ Media Rating: 10/10- GAWDDDD WHY DOES EVERY CHARACTER HAVE A FACE CARD!!! Genuinely I'm excited for the new game and this series is so good even if the lore may be a little confusing sometimes. I'm a fake fan since I haven't played the games, I've just seen a lot of playthoughs and videos about the story but that counts right? ^^ Besides the characters being attractive the character designs are actually so cool. I specifically love Resident Evil Village just because the designs and story are so fucking cool!!! anyways...

→ Fandom Rating: 8.5/10- GUYS THERE ARE MORE CHARACTERS THAN JUST LEON KENNEDY YOU KNOW THAT RIGHT?? WE CANNOT AS A SOCIETY IGNORE CARLOS OR CHRIS OR ALBERT ETC ETC! I lowkey refuse to count the Leon gooners as a part of the fandom since they don't know jack shit about the actual series, they just think Leon is hot (tbf not wrong). Fandom is a bit of a mixed bag because so many different demographics like the game. For the most part not a lot of problems here ;p

Red Dead Redemption:

→ Media Rating: 9/10- guys... I'm still working on finishing RDR 2... I'm trying please I'm rlly bad at videogames please have mercy. (〒﹏〒) But so far yeah erm this game is so peak I love all the characters I would personally put my life on the line for all of them. Cowboy lovers in for a treat oh my godddd. Also nobody talks about how fucking pretty this game is too. Like lowkey it got me looking into the sunset sometimes because the graphics are so nice. Yes I know I'm only talking about the second game I'll play the first one eventually!!! patience!!!

→ Fandom Rating: 9/10- Are there even any problems in this fandom for real? Much like Leon gooners there are a lot of Arthur gooners (even tho JOHN AND DUTCH ARE RIGHT THERE BRO CMON) but jokes aside... fanart is fire. But obviously there isn't much of a fandom anymore since the game released like... whenever 2018 was... SORRY I JUST DID MATH 7 YEARS AGO WTF???

Mouthwashing:

→ Media Rating: 9/10- IDK its a really well made game, another win for indie game developers as well. There's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said to be fair. Love the story and how its delivered

→ Fandom Rating: 6/10- ...Yall were annoying ASF I'm not even gonna lie this fandom had the best bad takes ever. People getting death threats for drawing Jimmy be fucking real bro... That's also mostly because the fandom was gigantic on Tiktok and there isn't much critical thinking going on there. Dear god forbid there be a single morally grey and evil character WOOOO SCARYYY

Arcane:

→ Media Rating: 8/10- Guys gonna drop some bars here but season 2 was undeniably rushed. A lot of plot points ESPECIALLY WITH MEL felt very rushed. Caitlin and Vi's whole relationship made no sense to me and a little dramatic or paced badly (your sister is about to kill herself why are you fucking in a prison cell??????) But that doesn't distract from the fact that yeah, the show is fantastic. Just the animation alone is breathtaking, its no wonder it took them like half a decade + more for a single season. Also wdym Jayvik isn't canon??

→ Fandom Rating: 8/10- Cannot avoid those weirdos with bad takes HATING ON MY QUEEN MEL. She gets a lot of the "shes in the way of the MLM ship!!!" treatment by fujoshis and I WILL NOT STAND FOR IT!! But otherwise the fandom is pretty fun. Loved the era where people where trying to decide whether Jayce was good or bad with those pfps. I feel like besides bad takes which is sometimes unavoidable, there is a lot of great stuff here.

Yellowjackets:

→ Media Rating: 4/10- Gonna break some hearts today... this show has insane potential. The problem with this show is that I was only invested to the past storyline where the girls crashed and I literally couldn't give a fuck about the adult future storyline. Which is. Half of the show. (・_・;) Season 1 was interesting, I was pretty invested in season 2... season 3 lost me. I don't mean to sound like... anti-woke but... why are they making every character gay... IM SORRY BUT ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY. And the fact that the background characters KEEP CHANGING I CANT HANDLE IT. Every season some random you've NEVER SEEN is all of a sudden a character with a name and I'm like where tf did you come from????

→ Fandom Rating: 5/10- My only exposure to the fandom is on Tumblr so maybe a bad take incoming. People trying too hard to ship every possible character with eachother. Besides that if the fandom is fine.

The Walking Dead:

→ Media Rating: 7.5/10- Yeah this show does fall off at a certain point (after Rick's death). You have to understand that this is a network television show, which explains some weird long plot points and stuff but otherwise... I love this show so dearly. I'll defend it and all its flaws like its my job...

→ Fandom Rating: 6/10- How do you even rate a fandom that doesn't really exist anymore... anyways the fandom is old a lot of the takes they be having in the 2010s aged like dogshit- for example, Lori Grimes hate. I don't care what you bitches say she's not that fucking bad but people freak out over her. I WILL DEFEND HER TILL I DIE. If you wanna hate someone hate ANDREA bro.

Breaking Bad:

→ Media Rating: 10/10- I could write 30 essays about this one show. I could talk about it for hours. Like I'm so sad that Breaking Bad is only referred to as a meme because its genuinely like that greatest show ever written. Every character is so fucking enthralling. There wasn't a single point in the show I was bored or anything. Like every arc was amazing. Watch Breaking Bad and ignore the memes.

→ Fandom Rating: 3.5/10- MAN FUCK MEN FR. I hate hate hate Skylar White haters so much fuck I get so mad over it its not even funny. People in this fandom drag every female character for no reason??? Like watch the fucking show Skylar White is not even annoying??? So many of the people who watch this show are dumbass men who miss the point of it. Shoutout the few who are educated and understand...

Better Call Saul:

→ Media Rating: 10/10- Very different from Breaking Bad, which why they are being rated separately. God the character development in this show has brought me to legitimate tears. I've had weeks ruined because of this shows effect on me. Some people may watch it and hate it. Its not a suspenseful action show. Its pretty lax all the way until the last season. But gawd the DIALOGUE IN THIS SHOW OMGGGG

→ Fandom Rating: 8/10- The people in this fandom are actually normal functioning people!! Wowie!! Low-key only good takes happening here. Not a lot of fancontent from what I've seen but still. Miles better than Breaking Bad fans.

→ Media Rating: 10/10- On my second rewatch of this show. I've written a whole separate blog about this show, so just refer to that instead. 

→ Fandom Rating: 9/10- yes yes yes intelligent show with intelligent fans!!! lets gooo!!! Jokes aside there is barely some shipping discourse but I just kind of ignore all that because the point of the show is the fact that the relationships are complicated. IDK I just love reading about all the things people write about in relation to this show and their takes and theories ｡◕‿◕｡
