we laugh indoors

I felt the collapse of your life in my arms,

my whole world slipped and fell, for what felt like -

forever.

I hear the sounds you made and the patter of your toes,

Then I will search, try to get a glimpse of you.

You were close to me for so long,

Wrapped around me as we slept, no fear in the world.

I hope you still do, and for her sake too.
