"its a pretty view" rest in peace charlotte fosgate

on a night in may 2025 (?) the twitter account "burntfishie" posted

"its a pretty view"

this supposedly being a caption to the picture below, a view from a bridge, taken from a phone.

burntfishie/charlotte then replied to her own tweet with "long way down"

she then jumped off the bridge, immediately ending her life at the young age of 17 years old.

why am i telling you this? why does it matter? the reaction to this event is the reason im here writing this.

you may think this tweet turns into a memorial, or a place for people to talk about mental health.

but no.

it became a place for transphobes to celebrate the death of charlotte, simply because she was trans.

memes.

jokes.

remixes of the news broadcast.

you name it, they did it.

they even went as far as going to her memorial at the St johns bridge, and putting transphobic imagery in the place of flowers

charlotte was an important person, not just her story, but to people before then even. she is remembered as a kind girl, who loved making sonic mods, and it is so unfortunate  that im here telling you this story

x.com/@burntfishie

youtube.com/@charcoalllll

her story is important, not as a reminder of how messed up this world can be, but as a reminder as to how SERIOUS and DANGEROUS transphobia and any form of bigotry is, and can be.

charlotte🐠 on X: "its a pretty view https://t.co/6aumhYSKYR" / X

R.I.P

rest easy girl.. </3

looking at this as a 17 yr old trans girl who's going through a lot as well just hurts. Always wondered what people would think about me if I met a similar fate, everyone of those disgusting comments fills me with dread and anger, I'm scared knowing that there are people who offline and online who salivate at the thought of us ending our lives because of how much they despise us. its hard to stay strong or have any hope that I will be able to transition and live in a country that despises so many of its own but I know if I leave the world I let them find joy in seeing our lives and legacies become nothing more than fuel for their hatred or just a cruel joke.

I hope she can rest in peace, she deserved a lot better than this

I never used twitter but posts like this make me feel like I took a good decision. Twitter seems like a horrible social media and this confirms it. The level of transphobia and hate in general is brutal

(sorry if my english isn't good, it isn't my first language)

Twitter is like if the worst shit you could find in 4chan's /b/ and /poi/ and all far-right subreddits had an inbred baby.

This is coming from someone who has quit twitter since February after two years being on that shit filled pit called twitter.com

If I remember correctly, she made great tools for the modding scene of Sonic Frontiers and Shadow Generations. And then, knowing that unfortunately someone with that talent is now gone just, sadness me. But thing that makes me feel irritated, angry and simply disappointed where those shitheads from X/Twitter (Or whatever that shithole is named) making those disgusting comments made me ultimately leave that excuse of a social media, nowdays most modern social media are just places to spread hate and negativity, it's not places to connect with friends, family and people online.

May she rest in peace.

We need to nuke twitter. The hate that site breeds is genuinely dangerous. The amount of vile tweets twisting her suicide to make her seem like the one at wrong is killing me. If this is how people really think about us then I'm better off going stealth until the day I die.

I am not trans. This still haunts me, however. It's disturbing how comfortable people are mocking fellow human beings just because of their identity. I wish nothing but true peace for my trans sisters and brothers.
What is even worse is that she is not the only minor who's suicide was mocked relentlessly online. A famous case is Mitchell Henderson, who was only 14 at the time when he took his own life. The phrase 'an hero' was coined from it. There was even a troll campaign that even got to his parents. There's been a never ending trend online towards mocking people who have ended their own lives. There have been relentless mockery over tragic and unfortunate events in general. The Internet has no shortage of showing the otherwise cruel side of humanity.

Being anonymous online and the general lack of empathy is what makes even the surface web a cruel place. Twitter is a big hotspot for despising victims, especially if they just so happen to be marginalized people. This anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric is unfortunately nothing new. People have always been ignorant and will continue to find ways to be as such. It's why it's so important to show support, whatever you can to help.

I completely agree with your first paragraph. Its just revolting to see people do this, to mock this poor girl like this after her death. Reminds me of the Amanda Todd case. May both of them rest in peace

this actually makes me sick. im not trans myself, but im still queer, and honestly this makes me sick. not only did she end her own life, but she still got hated on afterwards. it makes me led to beleive it was hate comments that made her kill herself in the first place. disgusting.
bullying kills, guys.

I read about what happened.. Her story is a reflection on the lives of trans and queer people all over america. Im so sad and frustrated by the people who mocked her all the way to her last day. Rest in peace, Charlotte. May the future for all queer folk be brighter and better.
