What you are about to read is entirely an opinion piece. I, the writer of this piece, am not a professional critic and will never claim to be. I am merely a fashion industry fanatic with to much time on their hands.
With every season and year fashion trends come and go however, some trends stick around for more than one and become a staple of said season. With the Fall and Winter seasons about to be in full swing, I believe it's only appropriate for me to breach the subject of what's hot this year.
Fall Fashion Trends 2025
Vanilla Aesthetic
One of the most prominent themes I've been seeing on social media (Tik Tok FYP, Instagram FYP, Youtube, etc.) is the Vanilla Aesthetic. From my understanding the Vanilla Aesthetic really took off during the fall and winter season of 2024 and encapsulates everything "cozy" through creamy beige colors that scream "vanilla."
A lot of vanilla scents are so incorporated in the aesthetic via perfumes, candles, body wash, etc. Since the goal of the aesthetic is to become one with the flavor and concept of vanilla.
I've seen the aesthetic mainly being adopted by those who have already subscribed to the Clean Girl Aesthetic, since it also carries a lot of the same themes who it comes to monochrome outfits, loafers and slick back buns.
Chocolate Aesthetic
The Chocolate Aesthetic is exactly what it sounds like - it's an aesthetic created on social media that contains a lot of rich chocolaty browns and is almost the "darker" version of the Vanilla Aesthetic which seems to be more adopted by those who have subscribed to the Messy Girl Aesthetic.
Like the Vanilla Aesthetic, the Chocolate Aesthetic also incorporates a lot of coco based scents via perfumes, candles, lotion, etc.
I'm not exactly sure when it started but I've been seeing it pop up more and more around social media as of this year.
Suade
One of the most timeless pieces for the fall will always be the suade material.
Adapted into coats, shoes and now more popularly - bags! I believe the sudden or more stark jump in popularity in the brand Coach kinda helped spur on the figurehead suade bags will have during this fall.
Fur
Although not full fur coat season yet, fur is still finding a way to weave its way into the fall.
I would mainly contribute it to the hype going on around doe print/deer print jackets and sweaters which take of the fuzzy feel of fur, which are of course faux.
I believe Hollister currently has an item such as this in stock, however I could be wrong as I have been wrong before.
Velvet
Not a personal favorite of mine but velvet is once again one of those staple pieces we cannot shake during the fall season. More specifically - crushed velvet.
I've seen it used very similarly to suade in the form of coats, shoes and bags. However, to me it just doesn't give that same "wow" factor suade does.
2016 Revival
Whether you like it or not, if you've been on any social media platform and have any ties to the fashion and beauty sphere you would have seen that King Kylie is back and better than ever.
Kylie Jenner definitely has some tricks up her sleeve this fall regarding her brand Kylie Cosmetics and the announcement has had retired 2016 baddies scrambling to see who can take the crown from her.
I unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to be a teenage during the 2016 era and have an immense love for the role social media played for fashion during that time and think that the possibly resurgence of 2016 trends may serve our current fashion and beauty industry some good.
I would like to thank you all for reading
I hope you are having a good day/night
