The internet is dead, corporations killed it

Everything's an ad. An algorithm decides what you're allowed to see. Generative ai is shoved down our throats. Censorship is on the rise. 1/3 of the accounts are bots. And why?

Profit.

Why make a service better when you can lock old features behind a paywall and call it an update? Why pay the content creators fairly when you could let them beg for Patreon subscriptions? Why do anything to improve the user experience?

FUCKING NETFLIX doesn't give you access to their whole catalog anymore. That's insane and we should be angry.

But the worst part? We've been convinced it's normal. Even when we see the internet get worse and worse we're told to ignore our reality and pretend thing are getting better.

I'm done with it. I'm thinking about creating a ban for myself, not totally of course (the world we live in is too messed up for that). But, I want to focus more on media I can own, services that won't give me ads for breathing, and the real life world around me.

At this point, I don't know a single person who is against pirating. The way these corporations find every way to get an extra buck out of consumers is insane, and what is more insane to me are the people who are actually paying for it. People want revolution, but the people will turn against you if you dare suggest canceling their subscriptions.

I got a bluray player at Walmart in clearance a few months ago and have built up a small library. I've found it makes rewatching movies more common and more enjoyable. I also learned steel books are a thing and have a couple.
