music kinda sucks now

ok not all of it but like… does anyone else feel like music’s lost something? everything sounds the same. same beats, same voice, same corny lyrics that don’t actually mean anything. it’s like everyone’s trying to make the next tiktok sound instead of a song.

remember when people made music because they actually gave a shit?? like nirvana’s first stuff, or old punk bands who didn’t even know how to play half their instruments but did it anyway??? now everyone’s debut album sounds like it’s been through filters and a corporate checklist. like uggghh....

and yeah, i get it, people gotta make money. whatever. but it’s so obvious when a song’s just made to go viral. you can literally hear the desperation in the chorus lmao.

like, what happened to writing something because it hurts or because you’re bored and mad and need to scream about it?

meanwhile there’s this band in my town — people my age — who used to do covers at local shows or events. they were never really extraordinary,  only really covering pop songs. then they finally dropped their “first song” couple weeks ago and dude… it’s auto-tuned to death, mixed to sound like every other pop-whatever song out there. produced by the most expensive studio in town too. and of course everyone’s like “omg it’s so good!!” like yeah ok i guess if you like meaningless lyrics with no heart behind it.

idk maybe i’m just bitter or weirdly nostalgic for a time i wasn’t even alive for but... man... i miss music that sounded like it wasn't produced solely for the money.
