I think i have found my favorite play ever written ever!
Blood wedding by Lorca is some of the best plays that has actually made me tear up and filled to the brim with of appreciation.
<SPOILERS!>
The ending is described as a suffering without respite or hope, and I have never ever felt something described so well and accurately. Cause it was sad, the characters were suffering without respite or any hope for any of them in the situation they were in.
My favorite part was when before the wedding, the bride is getting ready and guest's that are entering sing while entering. There is a part that the brides maid, who loves the bride as if it was her own daughter, sings a passage to her in the middle of guests entering:
I want to plant her a tree
with red ribbons on every branch
A good wish on every ribbon
For happiness and long life
It's so heartwarming to see someone love someone so much that all they want for their loved one is to for them to live long filled with happiness. LOVE!
Although the play is sad, small moments like this one or when the mother-in-law accepts the bride as her daughter so easily as if it was meant to be, to me was very warm and comforting. I was listening to the audiobook while reading it, best idea ever. Every character had different voices that suited each one of them so much, it was exactly as I had imagined it.
If you are looking for a short happy yet sad play, I urge you to give it a chance!
Thank you for reading my thoughts on my now favorite play!
Have a good rest of your day!
