New to skating

I'm in college and I just started roller skating with my friend on campus. I was inspired by Jet Set Radio (aka the best game of all time) and especially more so because Sega just released aggressive inline skates for the game's 25th anniversary with Them Skates. I got the Jet Set Radio skates (which my friends have notoriously called bland and ugly 😪) and the Alex Broskow powder blue skates. I have never been good at roller skating but my goal is to do some real cool tricks on campus some day and make a video like Broskow and his bros.

I know the common consensus is that beginners shouldn't start with aggressive inline skates because of the lack of breaks and stuff but so far i've only eaten shit once and it was because i made the decision to go down a steep hill without mastering how to stop.

When I was looking online at videos I noticed people calling roller skaters "fruitbooters" which i think is the funniest term ever. I guess it's supposed to be offensive but man it's hilarious. The people on campus have been really nice to me and my friend considering the online climate though...i wonder how they'll treat us at Venice Beach..

Any tips on how to stop in inline skates? I'm trying out T-stops but i don't have it down pat yet.

don't have any tips on inline skating 0-o.. but i have been playing jet set radio on my ps vita and i love it! I'm not too good but the music and aesthetics make up for it. I have inline skates but barely use them since im ass.... maybe I should practice before it starts getting too cold...

that's supa cool that you also have a psvita! that's how i got into Jet Set Radio so we're twinning in a way lol
and dw if you're not good at it, the controls are janky so it's kinda hard to get them perfect yk but since you like the aesthetic and music i recommend you play Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. better controls but same vibe and aesthetic. plus a sequel is coming soon
and yea you should probably give your skates some attention they'd definitely appreciate it just be sure to be safe and to not get sick in winter weather wherever you are in the world 👍
