Starting off by saying that I genuinely do mean this, and I’m not trying to ragebait or anything.
But I seriously can’t stand goths, maybe I’ve just had a horrible experience with them but man they annoy me so much. Every single one I’ve came across just have this subtle “I am better than you” attitude, and still act like they’re super nice and inclusive. Like alright whatever you say… Always talking about how they wish there were more goths, and then gatekeep their bands and fashion. I used to really look up to them too, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve learned that most of what seems nice about them is just an act.

I think it has less to do with gothness and just subcultures in general, there's a lot of gatekeepers, and I partially understand where they are coming from, when the vast majority of people bully or trash on alternative communities, whilst also showing really harmful behaviors, it's easy to think that since you didn't fall for the "mainstream brainwashing" you somehow are better, but that just not fair. Alt spaces and normal spaces are different ones not better and they can get a long, the problem comes not from being alternative but instead comes from a place of trying so hard to avoid snobbishness and fakeness that you yourself become one, someone who's exclusionary and egotistic

I can for a matter of fact say that there is a big issue with such in the Goth community. A lot you will meet are like that but not all, there are a few good gems out there. It's never really good to generalize all though I assume you probably didn't mean it in that way.
Of course, I believe there’s good people out there, but none that I’ve met personally, didn’t mean to generalize I was just mad while writing.. sorry

Not gonna lie, I have no clue who you are and this is about 13 days old now but I'd be inclined to agree. I've been into goth music for a very long time now and found the online spaces (see r/goth) really stifling. They're way too serious and everyone has a major hard-on over their own music taste. I assumed the irl scene would be better but I went to a gig for the first time and everyone was so.. humourless.
What I would say though is that the goths I've met on SpaceHey are very nice! Please don't let that dissuade you from loving the music.. talking to people on here that like goth music is mad chill since they're not miserable middle aged twats. 🙏
nyxie! :3
oh :( sorry u had such a bad experience with some of us (ik i don’t look or sound goth but trust I agree with ALL the political views and listen to a lot of goth music) I do hope that you give the rest of us a chance though, we’re all equals!
Sorry ;; didn’t mean to seem like I hate people for just being goth, it’s more like I don’t enjoy the scene anymore… I’m sure there’sa lot of good people out there

have you met goths in real life? most goth gigs (at least where i live) have super nice people, like, in all the underground scenes, the goths are the nicest ones usually, so is kinda odd that you had that experience
Yeah, in fact I’m only talking about the ones I’ve met irl

snow white
Well their style’s kinda on point, I’ll give em that
Literally their only bonus

TRASH PANDA >.<
Honestly as someone that listens to goth music and goes to goth events I'd have to agree. Not all of them are bad though. If you ever do want to get into the music I'll give you some recommendations.
Thanks, but I’ve kinda lost interest in the scene
