could be the answer some aren't looking for but blink-182 have to be up there. not many bands can say they're the definition of a whole genre but blink are the definition of pop punk. the run of albums with enema of the state, take off your pants and jacket and the untitled album might be the best three album run of all time, not to mention dude ranch as a fourth option. they get clowned on a lot but they're genuinely geniuses when they come to music. can be funny when they want to and can be serious when they want to, not many bands can do both as well as they can.
