Prose about estranged family

I dreamt last night that my aunt

Said she missed crying with me.

It was a touching reunion,

An admission of love,

Overdue.

A perception of usefulness.

But only in dreams can this exist.

Only in this world can we speak candidly,

Can she exist as more than a relative.

Only in dreams can pride be swallowed,

Walls collapsed,

Real tears shed.

I dreamt that my aunt loved me.

What a beautiful and distant thing.
