I'm gonna yap for a bit.
ok so I'm a huge fan of finding weird videos on Youtube, wierd music on bandcamp and such right?
Its really fun I recommend it (as long as you dont fall down one of... those rabbit holes)
What
got me into it was those "internet checkpoints" videos, the ones with
comments completely unrelated to the video because the algorithm was
pushing it out to EVERYONE while just being like a song from an old game
with some wierd image on it.
I got one of those up on my feed one
day and deciced to watch it, it was nice enough so I looked at the
recomended videos and one stood out to me.
PAPERS by
よしながき
Now
I cant read what that means (I think its Yoshinao Satoh? its a name
that keeps cropping up on that youtube channel). Its two minutes long
and its sort of stop motion made of a bunch of similar images in news
papers.
Weather reports, mooncycles, faces, floorplans, texts,
puzzles and other images flashing faster than you can comprehend
individually.
I thought it was beutifull, I havent been able to find
more info on that channel aside from similar videos that probably the
better part of an evening just playing on loop on my monitor (while I
was sewing but still).
My favourite of these is either PAPERS or
POWER, PAPERS because the way it shows time passing is just beutifull
and POWER because... its just wierd. I can hardly describe most of what
happens in it because its just... odd. Feels like a fever dream I
recomend it.
Another video thats less cryptic is a random reupload of Himiko Kikuchi - Flying Beagle (1987).
Theres
nothing noteworthy of it, aside from the fact that a random
citypop/jazz album re upload has 8,8 MILLION VIEWS just cause of the
jazz dog.
To be fair I am one of them.
Love Jazz dog.
But
back to weird videos. Existential crisis in class/I got sad about
cyborgs but a classmate was nice to me is a guilty pleasure of mine.
I've watched it like maybe 50 times. I've spent waayyyy too much time
listening to the music.
Its in text just a *really* weird lecture on
how the farming industry treats egg laying chickens poorly, but the
video is an amalgimation of trippy angles, 2d animation, 3d animations
and vfx that make it feel like sitting through a lecture while having a
reeeaaaallly bad trip.
It does have a lot of bright colours and harsh patterns though, but if you can handle that
Go watch it.
I've gotten so many vocal stims just from the different ways they describe the chicken-cage hybrid.
I'm gonna start using the blog thingy to just talk about things I like. Give a shout if you also like it.
oh
and listen to Placeholder - cave song (duster). I'm not associated with
them, I just reaaallyy like their music. Its a shame they only have one
song recorded so far.
