on the midnight of october 12 2024, i was driven from a hospital to a psyche ward after being arrested after a wellness check over a s*icide plan posted online.
when i was being checked in, there was something that stuck out to me, the "mannequin". every person whos been to the psych ward knows, but if you dont, it is essesntially where the nurses make you undress so they can check for scars or bruises. i was visibly uncomfortable but i ended up doing it anyway, i have never felt so exposed, but i understand it was needed, i just thought id bring this up.
anyway, when i was brought into my room i noticed there were ur*ne stains in the corner oof my room, which had spread all over the floor, they didnt bother to address it and left me to it. as you can imagine it had messed with me mentally that i was surrounded by pee constantly for 5 days
something i dont think was very good was how much they focused on my trans identity, they even wrote my deadname alongside my name lucy in quotes (deadname "lucy") on all of my nametags, including the board above my room, which i believe was very very bad. considering my entire reason for being there was a dysphoria induced mental breakdown, they had also brought it up any chance they got, which was upsetting for me.
i was also forced to talk to my mom, who had talked to me infront of staff about what had happened whilst i was sobbing
i was allowed to have a childhood plushie and a sleeping mask, i wasnt even allowed to tell friends im okay which upset me alot.
i will not say this was a abusive psych ward, but there were things i saw that were not okay. not at all.
all in all, id like to thank everyone who has heard the full story about why i was there and has stuck with me, i love you so much. and im so grateful to have you.

psych wards suck, i was in one when i was 16, i managed to stay out of trouble while i was there though.

even if it wasn’t an abusive psych ward (thank goodness!) that is still not a good experience and im sorry you had to go through that, we need better mental health care. Even just being strapped in a stretcher and taken to the hospital from the ER was hella scary. Mine unfortch was a bit abusive and I honestly don’t remember much from it but it definitely did not make me feel better and the people were so icky
im sorry you went through this :( these places need proper funding so badly its so unacceptable

Holy shit, having ocd (or even not having it), constantly being surrounded by piss stains would drive me insane thats torture

also shoutout to sillypau, her story really inspired me to speak out
i actually watched sillypaos video a while back. im writing a book about a young trans teen who gets sent to a mental hospital, and have been looking for any posts/vlogs/videos about hospitals so that i can make the hospital segment of the book detailed and accurate. :)
also i almost got sent to the ward like 3 months ago but i didnt yipppeeeee!!
