Point is: you said he was "presumably" straight. So there are vibes he might be NOT straight. I wouldn't bet my money on anything.

As for the trans thing, I'm pretty sure if he really did like you and you told him you're trans, he wouldn't care that much.
If my boyfriend told me he's my girlfriend one day, I'd still be with him (or her in that case). He's not trans, but if he was and I was straight, I'd become a lesbian. Just saying.

And I don't think you should change how you behave around him. Of course, it takes some getting used to, getting into motion once a relationship sprouts, but if he can't love you at your worst, he doesn't deserve you at your best.
If the version he loves is the fake one, not the real you, sorry buddy but that's not the right guy.
