In the future, I intend on making blog posts/videos (because I'll be making videos...eventually) that are more personal in nature. I'll be talking about my family in some of those, but in the interest of anonymity from all of like 3 people who'll read this or watch the inevitable video on this, I'll be giving them code names. It'll be consistent across stories, so if you ever forget, you can come back here and know who I'm talking about.
Now the reason why I'm giving my family members code names to begin with is because I don't have an nuclear family, otherwise I'd just use their titles. Granted, I have a few easy ones for ya. My brother will be addressed as...my brother. My Grandma will appear in some of my stories, and she'll be referred to as my Grandma. Because she is. Mom might show up sometimes, but you'll know when. Dad's out the picture so he'll be spared from my stories too.
However, I have 3 aunts. See how that could get confusing? So, here's how we're gonna do it:
-Aunt Ruby
-Aunt Garnet
-Aunt Sapphire
Boom, gemstones. No, they're not related to their birthstones (I think, not sure honestly). But what character introduction is complete without some info on them, eh?
Aunt Sapphire and me go way back. Before my mom passed (spoilers), she was with me even then. When I had to move, she came along as a helper and a slight force of normality in my life. Her defining trait is that she was dropped on her head as a baby. Literally. Not actually joking- the story goes that she fell out of a stroller and the impact caused her to have extra fluid in her brain or something, which also caused her to have...to be sensitive, lower than average IQ. It's not life threatening or inhibits her life too much (she's running on 60 so she's mostly fine). Like the heading suggests, she's the nice one. The only other thing is that she can be easily irritable; like if you talk to her without her really intending on being talked to, she sounds annoyed. Other than that, she's usually pretty chill.
You have that one family member that talks behind everyone's back, but puts up a good front? Aunt Garnet is their name. She's usually pretty nice to hang around; I'd dare say chill and cool under most circumstances. However, despite that, you have to remind yourself every now and again that she's not always honest, and that if you rub her, or someone around her the wrong way, you're not gonna know about it. But her friends will, that's for sure. Almost every impactful thing that's happened in my house has, only moments afterwards, been forwarded to someone on her contact list. She's also an extrovert, which is a bit of an anomaly in my family, as most of us can spend 90% of our day to ourselves if we really wanted to, myself included.
She also shows her appreciation in sunflower seeds, shrimp, and crabs. I don't complain.
When Mom passed, she was the one who took the mantle of being the guardian of my brother and I. The past decadeish has been primarily under her care and keeping. And for the most part, she's done a pretty shit job about it. I'm neither an angry nor a hateful person, but if I had to have a list of people I hate, she'd be name number 1. And maybe 2, though I might reserve that spot for myself. She's angry, bitter, negative, depressed, and stupid to top it off. There's a lengthy rant to be had about all her awfulness, but I'll save it for when it's relevant.
I'll save you (mostly myself though) from me introducing the other 3, but for now, chew on this, and see you on some other blog I've written.
