Don't give me some stupid book that's not about wizards

My god mother gave me a book about some random kid going through the "same thing" as me. First of all, it's not the same thing. It's about a jewish girl (I’m not jewish or a girl) and their experience is completely different from mine. Secondly I wouldn't care even if it was the same as mine because I don't like non fiction and I definitely don't like biographies about random people I have never heard of. I understand why she gave it to me but I can't find a way to trully appreciate it.

If I had the need to learn about this or hear someone else's perspective I would look for something online.

I'm not gonna read it, I like books about wizards, so no matter how much my mom might tell me I could learn something extra about myself though reading this I'm not gonna read it.

Whenever I read about something that is somehow about me it tends to piss me off, because why is this random person acting like they know what it's like to be me, often it is pretty wrong because everyone experiences things in extremely different ways.

Why would I read about my problems (that I can't solve) if I can just as well read about wizards.

So just a tip, if you’re planning to give someone a gift don't give them a book about their problems that they can't do anything about (unless they have shown express interest into learning about it), give them something that they'll actually enjoy.

Anyways I'm not going to be reading that book.(partly because I'm really suborn and I said I wouldn't so I won't but mainly because I don't care/ it seems really boring)

(Also it is in dutch which I find a terrible language to read)

-Z?

i read most of all are Fantasy and Fictional books, I got lots in my own mini library and i have eBooks hehe. I highly recommended "Magisterium series by holly black and Cassandra Clare", and "Caraval Series by Stephanie Garber". im currently reading Under the oak tree, A day of fallen night, the darkening and lastly six of crows. if i done with all those books im gonna read next the "Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr and Inheritance" by christopher paolini but they its too expensive so i decided to download a epub files as Ebook (˶ˆᗜˆ˵)

Was this book Anne Frank's Diary by any chance?

Either way, I think there's something to be said about reading broadly. All in all, it's quite beneficial, but there's not much point in forcing yourself if you don't click with something.

If you haven't already, maybe the Septimus Heap books by Angie Sage might be worth checking out. I didn't read them as a kid, but I found the first book (Magyk) recently and I'm already 100 pages in! Fun stuff so far.

good luck on your quest to find more wizard books!

You're going to read it someday, and you're going to like that she gave it to you even if you can't relate to it

it's okay and good to try things that are out of your comfort zone. otherwise you can't grow as a person. you don't have to enjoy or relate to every experience to get something out of it.
