Thinking

I've been reading and thinking and I hope I'm coherent because I'm on 5 hours of sleep and going through weed withdrawal, but...

Remember when opinions were saved for what weather you prefer and your favorite ice cream flavor? For people having civilized debates about complex issues? That's subjective stuff, that's what opinions are for. For small talk, or for issues where there's no clear best solution. 

When did some people's opinions just become lies? It doesn't matter if it's your opinion if it's not true. "All trans people are perverts" is an example I saw on a different blog. Factually inaccurate, and spreading misinformation and fear mongering. That fear mongering is then damaging to the trans community because they're being generalized as that, despite the fact it's so obviously false. Do you know how I know it's false? Because in the real world, almost nothing is 100%. As a trans person, can you understand why that kind of rhetoric being spewn without any thought I'd damaging and disgusting. Obviously some trans people are, but so are some cis people, and you don't see me generalizing all cis people. 

These people should be educated, because it's not just an opinion, that's dismissive to the actual damage these kinds of 'opinions' cause. What good can come from blindly believing in hate? Why are some of you just okay with that? I get a feeling some of you don't have to deal with that kind of hate, and don't understand what that can do to a person. What that can do to a community. I don't want to live my life with a target on my back because of my identity, but I'm trans, queer, autistic and biracial so I don't get that right. When people look at me or my page they won't see me, they'll see what they want to see. And I'm sick of it. 

And before anyone says anything, not necessarily on here but I have been bullied and harrassed time and time again in real life and online because of those labels. Because of people with those 'opinions'.

Sure, fine, you're technically allowed to be racist or transphobic or ableist, and I'm allowed to think you're a piece of shit for that, but why are we allowing these communities of people that feed off of their hatred of others to thrive by protecting them because it's 'just an opinion'?

Frankly I think that these people make this platform and every other an unsafe place. And no this isn't a left right issue, anyone that generalizes to paint an entire community as bad should be punished for being irresponsible with their platform, hell, I'm even including news sources in that. 

We don't need to get along, I know I wouldn't get along with most of you, but we don't need to hate each other over nothing. 

But hey, that's just my opinion.
