yeah it's been a hot minute (probably the longest I've gone recently without updating this thing), but i'm a broadcast engineer now!!
if you're at all familiar with me, you know that's exactly what i wanted my career to be. maintaining transmitters, playing with audio processors and RDS encoders, ensuring my work is compliant with the FCC's regulations, all that fun (and not so fun) stuff. i've only accidentally taken a station off the air twice so far! the plan is to have me take over as the RF/audio engineer at the start of next year, with our IT guy still doing 'puter stuff.
so far i got dynamic RDS set up on our classic rock station, we're working on the others but we're looking to upgrade our networking hardware first (that'll allow us to communicate with our transmitter sites easier). our talk AM station sounds pretty darn good, our nostalgia AM is the best AM i've ever heard!!! now our worst sounding station is the modern country one, the front jog dial on our audio processor (Omnia.6 EX) is broken so i can't change that right now.
as for my life, it's going pretty good! i've mainly been focused on work, but i've done some personal things here and there. my signature Stereo Tool presets sound the best they've ever sounded, now i'm working on some of my other presets. i recently aquired an Aphex Compellor from work, and i'm hoping to put it to good use when i eventually get an Auditronics console from one of our production rooms. had some drama with an ex-friend that proved to be too high-maintenance for me, but i'm reconnecting with a fellow broadcast engineer friend!
thanks for reading!!!
(r.i.p power adapter for Evolve III Maestro - thrown away after being a sparky little brat)
