I cant fucking handle working with idiots. I swear to god. My job requires you to stay on your feet and ACTUALLY think outside the box instead of creating a puddle of drool that stains the only wood desk till it changes the color. Instead of doing my job, and them doing their job, i do my job and they pull on their dicks as hard as they can while looking me directly in the eye to ask if they're pulling hard enough. Actually fucking ridiculous money-clapping-symbols work there guys. Happy to run a detox facility where we cam ween people off every substance you can think with you guys.
I'm not trying to work with people who think hanging out with strung out plebians with 4 days sober who read with their fucking finger makes them smart. There's a goddamn reason that we as staff need to be smarter then your average addict- and its because if we hired people as smart as addicts- it'd be nothing but a circle jerk echo chamber. Treatment can be such a joke. I've seen staff members watch these assholes say a word longer than 4 syllables and go on and on about how deep they are, while their therapy notes have less substance than a self harming 13 year old's kik messages with a grown man in 2016. Don't get me wrong, i love most of the people that come through, but in the way that a special ed teacher appreciates being the only person who gets to hug the one low functioning autistic kid.
If you've never delt with an addict i don't wanna hear a shift in your fucking seat if you're thinking about defending them. Before they're sober, its nothing but lying, med seeking, manipulating, or just straight have just a lack of liquid in their brains. I swear some of these rats i meet have nothing but air bubbles holding that shit up. The worst part is is they think they're 100% justified for no other reason than they reallllly reallly want to be right.
And the people that their silly little victim act work on? ill se them in my treatment center soon enough if they cant grow the fuck up. Thats it.

what a ray of sunshine you are. perhaps you shouldn't be working with addicts if you can't stand them? find a job where compassion isn't a requirement, if it's such a drain on you.
this is more about my coworkers who some of which have less than 1 year sobriety and have no business dealing with active addiction. You dont understand how many of my coworkers have relapsed being in a space surrounded by benzos and are actively high around people trying to rebuild their life. Also, you have no idea who i am, how i work, and what my clients think about my "lack of compassion". You're missing thousands of hours of context.
