Uhtua, building of the teachers' seminary. Built in the 1800's to teach teachers, it later was used by independent Karelia as a congressional building until it was captured by Bolševik troops. Later demolished and in it's place was built the modern Kalevala high school (Uhtua was renamed into Kalevala)

Karelian forest guerillas insepct machine guns (nicknamed bullet sprayers) at Kiimasjärvi during the Karelian People's Uprising against Bolševik Russia in 1921. The forces were led by Jalmari "Ilmarinen" Takkinen.


Courtyard of the Kiimasjärvi elementary school, used by the Karelian forest guerillas as base of operations. After being captured by Bolševiks in 1923, their commander burnt the building down out of anger.
