Marsha by Sammy Copley makes me think about cherishing the good life has to offer and living for those who wasn't able to. Similarly with Look Mom I Made It by Annika Kilkenny, the song is an echoing of hope and pride in overcoming adversity, at the same time an introspection of the sacrifices made and honoring of the struggle and decisions made along the journey. The song in a way encapsulates this nuanced sentiment I hold with my mom of wanting their validation and understanding everything that took to raise her children at the same time declaring a victory over her or rather years of fisted resentment with our strained relationship. But nonetheless, I guess for at the end of the day it is my hand now that's still holding on. Listening to Nine by Sleeping at Last does make me think what accountability means for me, they owed me so much but now I'm at an age that I have so much more work and grace I deserve from myself.
