Politics and their place on my page

Not posting this to the actual news & politics category since I reckon that will stir a pot I don't intend on eating from.

This is just a small blog post just to clear my head on some things I've seen while casually browsing this site (just getting used to how it works again, you know the drill).

Seems there's quite a lot of political discussion gaining popularity on here, which don't get me wrong I'm NOT surprised, but it just feels... unfortunate. Especially in regards to a certain alt-right talking head getting whacked.

I'm tired of talking about him, it all feels so superficial and virtue-signally; but at the same time we have to realize that the international population at large just witnessed a traumatic event, mostly against their will. Like, that video spread FAST. And obviously it was on purpose. Most of us didn't tune into the news to watch and pray as a story broke out, we witnessed the man get shot and killed in real time. It wasn't just the terminally online bros seeing it this time, it was viewed en masse by normies too. We don't have things like liveleak anymore, and social media (particularly twitter) have become disturbingly 'lax on what graphic content is or isn't allowed on the site. The same websites we use to post vacation photos and shower thoughts have also become the one-stop shop of horror and tragedy - so it's no wonder everyone is acting so uncivilized with one another. our brains are fried and unable to properly process or comprehend the emotional whiplash we subject ourselves to. The internet superhighway moves way too fast for the single lane it's become.

Regardless of which side of the fence you sit, I implore you show some more grace to those you disagree with right now. At the end of the day, the U.S government benefits from your distrust and malice towards one another, and it doesn't benefit you in the slightest. And frankly, as a Canadian, I want to be involved with as little U.S political discussion as humanely possible.

With that overdone opinion piece out of the way, let's talk about the topic in the title.

I don't plan on having a lot of political opinions or discussions echoed to this page, as the majority of what I want to post is largely untethered to the current political system of both the U.S.A and Canada; however, I can't promise full abstinence from talking about politics, as we live in some pretty trying times - not just in terms of the vapid, barbaric "culture war" - but also in terms of REAL economic and social policy, and some things are too impactful to me personally to ignore as a college student, aspiring theatre technician, and dare I say, "artist".

If I happen to post something related to politics, I welcome thoughtful and informed discussion and response. Approach me with new information, further reading, and civil attitude, as that is precisely how I would approach any of you should I butt my head into a discussion post. It's about awareness, education and perspective, not causing trouble. If you comment on a post with the goal of starting a fight, I won't humour you, and you can politely fuck off and die (an old adage from a bygone era, lol).

My classes are currently 90% gone due to college support staff strikes happening across my province, and a lot of union labour strikes are getting busted by our federal government on behalf of the conglomerates that plan on gutting our social infrastructure, so it is hard to escape talking about this stuff at the moment given I'm knee-deep in this shit. FWIW, I've been plenty active as support for the college strike. Take that as you will.

Anyways, sorry for such a tired and obligatory post. I want to start talking about actual fun stuff soon, but not a lot is happening in terms of technical production until around November. Maybe sometime soon I'll post a blog discussing my Doom WADography, and do some developer commentary! That would be super fun for me, maybe I'll start with a small post to gauge interest. Either way, I'd make them just for myself if I had to.

Have a lovely day, and remember to be kind to those around you. We still live in such a beautiful world together.
