September Movie Dairy (pt2)

Second movie dairy! The last one got no engagement lol but I enjoyed making it so I think I'm going to continue. I didn't watch as much stuff this month and I struggled to write abt them this time (I was writing weeks after watching) so this post is worse than the first one but hopefully I have more time to work on next months Dairy.

September Movie Dairy

*spoiler warning*

Your vice is a locked room and only I have the key
[1972 - Horror/Crime]

Olivero is a drunk, burnt-out writer who fills his time by humiliating his wife and host orgies, when women begin getting murdered he becomes the prime suspect.

I'm not sure what I expected but this wasn't it (Not in a bad way tho)? Although is was origanaly released in Italian I found a version in English! I was quite surprised by the plot twist of the wife being the one who planed all the murders but the movie wasn't super interesting to me.

I didn't really have much thoughts about this one. It wasn't terrible but I didn't care much for it either.

Nowhere
[1997 - Sci-fi/Comedy]

This film follows a group of collage students in Los Angles
on the day/night of a huge party.

Nowhere has quite a bit of a following and I see why but I thought there was a lot of plotlines going on, they were all interesting but sense there was so much it couldn't really expand of any of them. The set design, specifically of the bedrooms, is super cool in this movie they have so much personality that you don't see often.

Overall I really liked the visuals but I feel like there was slightly to much going on I think Nowhere would of work really well as like a series? and every plotline could get the spotlight it deserved.

Liquid Sky
[1982 - Si-fi/Thriller]

An alien spacecraft land of the roof of a heroin riddled Manhattan apartment, observes a punk fashion model, and sucks an opiate released from the brain of her sexual partners.

Due to being set in the 80s New York punk scene there's lots of interesting colourful imagery and the main character Margret wears this makeup that reminds me of David Bowie. The acting was at times noticeable but I liked Liquid Sky there is quite a bit of sex tho (which is expected given the plot) The ending, although I liked it, confused me slightly I wasn't sure who the girl in the red dress was? Like I think the actress was the same one the played Margret but I don't think she was Margret as she in the same scene? I probably just missed something.

I enjoyed Liquid Sky but I don't think I'd watch it again.

Dr. Caligari
[1989 - Erotic Horror/Si-fi]

The granddaughter of a infamous doctor experiments on patients at her asylum for the insane including Mrs Van Hoten, who has been diagnosed with a disease of the libido, and her husband.

This is a bizarre abstract avant-guard Erotic Horror. I've never seen anything like it, at first I was thinking that it might now have any dialogue but then they spoke lol. I didn't like the last sort of part with the father but did like when the roles reversed with Dr. Caligari and Mrs Van Hoten. Two scene that I liked and found really interesting were at the beginning with Mrs Van Hoten before she gets sent back to the asylum one is where she grows this sort of abscess on her ankle (it's a small part of one of the first scenes) and then a scene with this giant tongue in the wall/door. Dr. Caligari has super cool outfits like her weird yellow metal titty dress (lol).

Aside from the trans nymphomaniac (really with that wasn't there) thing, I really liked this film and It could of been on of my favs although it is very very weird.

I keep going to watch movies that seem super cool but then there not in english AND the fucking subtitles happen like 3 minutes late every-fucking-time so I can't watch them >:( WHY AREN'T THERE ANY GOOD MOVIES IN ENGLISH
