so i cannot stress this enough, but i do not mean this as a gatekeeping thing. i mean it as a "making spacehey the next big platform could and will get it tanked harder than tiktok has been getting tanked by the US" way. from my personal experience, it's been relatively peaceful on here- but as much as i could make this a whole "don't let toxic tiktok users move to spacehey" rant, thats not what im here to talk about.
as much as i want for spacehey to be successful, im smart enough to realize that spacehey becoming as big as twitter or instagram is likely going to lead to it getting the same treatment as tiktok- a bunch of random ass corporate brands move here to promote their products, realize they cant buy/sell our data on here, and push the government to make up shit about data concerns so they have a "reason" to tank the platform hard- similar to what happened with tiktok. the difference here is, tiktok doesnt allow you to post from the website, but spacehey does, so even if given countries remove it from the appstore, you'll still be able to use the platform.
all in all- it's important to remember that social media apps getting outright banned in countries is never done with the intent to protect the people, like many government officials may claim- it's done for censorship, isolation, and data control. whether or not tiktok gets banned in the united states, if you're planning to move here full time, do NOT make a big announcement about it on your tiktok. simply state that all your socials are in your bio, and leave it there. people can easily find it, join, and add or subscribe to you, but it isnt made a massive spectacle.
